Need help choosing emerald cut.

Would it be possible for emerald cut experts to help me evaluate these 2 stones? I’m hesitant on the J because of the color but it seems to have a great cut and of course I am in favor of a stone with a good spread. Thanks in advance!!

Have a few questions:

What is your sweet spot for l x w ratio?
What is your table % preference?
Are you color sensitive? Is the intended color sensitive?
How will you set the diamond? What color metal will you use? Will you have pave/side stones?
Are you intending to upgrade, or is this the forever diamond?
Do you have a preference of step facet size, or number of facets you prefer?
Is high clarity grade a must?
What is your min & max budget for the diamond?

Hi @Matthews1127 Thank you for the suggestion!
My ratio preference is between 1:3-1:4
I’m not knowledgeable enough to speak on table % but I am looking for an excellent cut to produce a great performing stone light wise. Most likely I am going with a solitaire yellow gold setting which will my forever ring. I’d like to stick with VS2 or better and I’m a novice in the facet area also but I know I’m not attracted to the one that appear too wide. My budget is 6,500-7,500. Sorry for my lack of knowledge

No lack at all!! Sometimes, we need to see something to know if we have a “preference”, and fancies are all about preference.
Do you like the one I posted?

Humor me, and examine this ideal cut EC by BGD, for comparison.

Yes, it’s smaller than what you’re looking for, BUT....look at the way it performs, and it’s beauty; the sleek steps, and gorgeous lines. It’s also “squatty” (l x w ratio: 1.35:1), which fits your l x w ratio preferences.
I implore you to reach out to BGD & inquire about an EC they may have that fits your criterion, within your budget requirements.
There are no other ideal cut EC’s on the market than BGD’s, at this time.

@Matthews1127 Thank you so much! These all look so lovely and any of these would be great choices I'm sure, especially the BGD. I do have the 1.3 G VVS1 on hold at James Allen now but maybe it is not a good stone? I have not been able to get an ASET image of this diamond.

It MAY be a good stone, BUT, here is my area of concern:

These steps are not lighting up & dimming at different times. I’m concerned you may have a dark center, face-on, with this stone.
Positioning an EC E-W, propped on Pavillion Facet 3 makes examining the stone extremely difficult, which is why ASET & N-S video are so necessary.

@Matthews1127 Wow! I really love that last option you posted. I am not family with this company. Do they have a good reputation? And I do have the same concern with the diamond at JA across the midsection.

Sorry that was for @scarsmum ......this is my first time using this forum. I’m not familiar with Yadav. Do they have a good reputation?

Sorry @Matthews1127 I had both your names wrong and tried to delete the post. Thank you for the input! I just don’t trust my judgement at all!

No worries. I’m all over this thread....EC’s are my favorites....all step cuts are my favorites!!!

@RuntoLove - the aset you posted earlier is superb, is that an option for you? If so do you have certificate and video? As to yadav, they are a retailer in San Francisco with an excellent reputation, and they also sell online. I haven’t bought from them but don’t see any reason to worry about them.

@scarsmum here is the link to the video. And yes, I checked out Yadav ....looks very credible and get great reviews. Their prices seem so reasonable!!! So I initially ordered a diamond from JA but returned it so I have a credit with them or I suppose I could get get a refund and look elsewhere. I just started with what seemed the easiest path...to choose another one of their stones but this time to make a more informed decision. Thanks for your help too! Oh and this stone is out of my price range but when I pulled the ASET is was posted at $7300....then next time I looked at the stone it had jumped to over $8600. I have inquired about getting the stone for the original price posted.

Unfortunately they may have changed the price because of the ASET. I tend to look at JA and BN after other sources simply because I have noticed they are two of the most expensive online retailers. It’s a nice diamond though.

@scarsmum That’s exactly what I was thinking which is not good business I believe. Thanks again!
