Hello everyone,

I have been looking for the rings set of engagement ring, and 2 wedding bands for quite sometimes now.
Eventually, i've settle with 03 diadmons from James Allen and a setting concept from Harry Winston that i requested James Allen to design a familiar one.

I would love to hear your comments on the 03 diamonds i've picked.

And this is the setting that i wanted:

I'm leaning toward the 1.30 H VVS2. Please help me.
And i understand that if i find James Allen from PriceScope, i will get a referral discount. Is this correct? And how much would be the discount?

One more thing i would like to ask. My girlfriend is about 5"2, 100 pound. I'vent been able to get her ring size yet, but since she's very skinny, i'm thinking about size 5 ?? With the 1.30 Carat, how much should be the width of the settings? Please advice!! Thank you all very much.

Hello!

Please link the pages of the diamonds, not the reports.

Those are too small for our expetation and we're keen on shopping with JA.
I appreciate your help though.

the discount will probably be between 1-5%

Those are not good stones....

this stone
http://goodoldgold.com/diamond/11055/

measures up (L x W ratio) about the same size if not bigger than the stones youre looking at... so you can say its a 1.3 ct, but they look like 1 ct stones

what was the price of the stones?

Those are around 6.100 to 6.250.
Please. Some more help.
Why are those such bad stone? Is goodoldgold better than James Allen ??

Those stones just don't seem like they would have much sparkle or life. Good old gold is nice because they test those stones to make sure they have a good light performance. We just don't think those would look sparkly, they would look dead.

Also, they are small for their CTW. So why pay for something you won't see? You know?

How much did you want to spend on your entire ring?

People here love to help find great stones for people. Just need to know what you're looking for and if your open to other vendors if the price is equivalent. Or are you still set on JA? either is fine just don't want to waste time :wavey:

I've pay attention at Polish and Symmetry. Those are actually from very good to excellent??
I'm buying the stone from oversea so i would like to have trustworthy, and reputable vendors therefore there is not limit as long as the vendors are good.
I'm looking to spend around 7.500 to 8000 if needed for the engagement ring. The spec would be at least 1.2 Carat, H and above, VS1 and above. I'm not quite satisfied with H and VS1, i would like at least G and VVS2, but my fiancee would like a bigger ring so i try to match that with my budget.

I really appreciate members of PriceScope helping me find the right stone. Thank you all.

Cut is what makes a diamond sparkle, and unfortunately polish and symmetry don't tell the whole story when it comes to cushions. Also neither does color and clarity. You could get a D IF stone with ex polish any symmetry and it still be a dud.

I highly suggest taking a moment and going over to YouTube and looking at these videos

As a PriceScope member, you are eligible for discounts from several online vendors on your diamond purchase. James Allen's discount will vary between 1%-5% depending on the diamond. WhiteFlash (WF) will show the PriceScope price if you go to their website directly from the PS website. Brian Gavin Diamond (BGD) I think will offer a discount to PS members that essentially is their listed wire price. I do not believe Engagement Rings Direct (ERD) or Good Old Gold (GOG) offer discounts to PS members on their diamonds but if you also purchase your ring setting from them I do believe they will work with you so your total price is less than what it would have been had you bought the diamond and ring setting in separate transactions. In any case, as you work with these online vendors, make sure you mention you are a PS member and inquire about the specific discount(s) for which you may be eligible.

For the style ring you are looking for, I would recommend you go with Engagement Rings Direct, who have successfully made variations of that HW ring you like - they also have beautiful cushions and excellent customer service. I also recommend you read this thread created by a veteran PS member who is very knowledgeable about the very ring design you are interested in: https://www.pricescope.com/communit...rience-in-making-a-harry-winston-halo.183473/

These are two cushions I like, but I am sure other PSers with better experience will chime once you have provided your budget and diamond priorities:

ERD 1.51ct G-VS2 X Factor - http://www.engagementringsdirect.com/1.51-carat-g-vs2-x-factor-cushion-cut-diamond-gid-113233.html
BGD 1.392ct H-VS2 Signature H&A Cushion - http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/d.../1.392-h-vs2-cushion-diamond-ags-104065157011

As for your girl's ring size, of course you can't go by height/weight alone, but I would guess that a 5 will be too big on her. I'm about the same size (5'3'' and 105 pounds), and I wear a size 3.5 ring.

Ummm....I know of someone who is around your height and weight but wears a size 7 ring...

i'm so thankful for all you guys support.
I actually looked at this beautiful 1.20 F VVS1 but it was out of my budget. But with PriceScope discount, it might be a good idea to give it a try. Any comments on this JA diamond ?? JA didn't mention the cut of the diamond on their website and most of the GIA are modified cushion cut brilliant, very confusing.

This is super helpful. Thank you very much. But both of your diamonds are way above my limit :).

I didn't see anything in your budget 1.2+ that was as nice as that one.

Don't look at carat weight, you have to look at the dimensions. Two of your picks don't even clear 6x6. All the Good Old Gold ones I picked are near 1 ct, but have good spread, and are underbudget.

I truly believe your best option would be to contact engagement rings direct, they make a million of those HW styles. And they can help you find the stone that's the best bang for your buck

But be prepared, to get a good stone at the size you are looking for you might have to go I si1.

No there is NOTHING WRONG with a well cut I si1 stone. And I would bet a whole lot of money your FI would prefer a sparkly I to a dead G.

I've tried to called them several time but no one picks up.
I forgot to mention that i'm purchasing the Diamond from Vietnam, it's an oversea purchase so it's really hard for me to deal with vendors that dont specialize in online shopping.

Any more suggestion guys?? Thanks.

Hmm. I wonder if either they aren't open during the time of day you're calling, or if they are on summer vacation. Ive noticed a handful of vendors have been lately.

The diamond from ERD looks a little dark in the middle. You might want to confirm this with them or get a video recorded for you.

All I see are sample images foe that stone.

Hey guys,

No comment on the diamond?
I've study and set my specification quite clear and found those 3.
Please help.

Don't buy fancy cuts like cushions without seeing real-life pictures of them. The three you linked don't have pictures, so you can't see what the facet pattern is like.

Can I ask why you want such high clarity? You'll be able to get the carat size you want in your budget if you are willing to budge on a few of your expectations. You have to remember that the pictures you're looking at are greatly magnified -- in real life, many inclusions are completely invisible to the naked eye.

I agree with previous posters -- stop thinking about carat size and start thinking about dimensions. A stone can be 1.2 carats but cut very deep. Not only will the stone look like a 1.0 carat from the top, but it's not going to be very sparkly.

There's no way to tell if those are nice stones or not just by the certificate

You need photos, ASETS, and a gemologist to review and comment on the stone. If the company won't do that for you go elsewhere.

You're specifications are unrealistic. Youll be hard pressed to find a well cut cushion with the size color and clarity you require. Figure out what's more important. Color and clarity or size.
