Yeah! I'm so glad you decided to let her be part of the decision! I ALWAYS like to be part of the decision, and I often surprise hubby with what I choose. I guess that's why you guys love us so much -- life is never dull and predictable!
Yay, I had been following this story with bated breath...so happy about the outcome! A 2 carat pear looks even bigger than a 2 carat round, so it's no wonder she was awestruck.
Wow, good thing you asked her her preference before you traded in the pear for a RB half as big! I'm glad your story had a happy ending. It is possible she told you previously that she preferred a smaller stone because she did not want to put pressure on you to buy a large stone given your current financial situation, but was delighted that you already had a big, lovely stone that was a gift from your grandmother and did not put you further in debt.
Please post pics when you get the stone set and Congratulations!
When I first hit this thread I saw pear, thought I can't help with fancies and moved on. Then it grew to 2 pages and I just had to see what was going on.
This is a wonderful story. I am so glad you went with your heart and allowed your intended to decide what she wanted to do. She sounds like a great lady to value the family tradition of the stone as much as the diamond itself!
PS Rule! You must post pics when you get your gorgeous e-ring!
May I suggest a V prong on the point. I have a pear and V prong heads offer great protection to the point of a pear.
