Hello, all. I''ve been using the Holloway Cut Advisor during my search for diamonds, and have found a diamond that rates Excellent in all four categories with an overall score of .9. Just read a very interesting, overall positive article on the Holloway Cut Advisor, but it also indicated that a person should not put too much stock in Holloway. After reading the article, I''ve become a little apprehensive about the HCA and its'' results. The stats from the GIA Dossier on the diamond I''m interested in are as follows:

Measurements: 5.33-5.36x3.18 mm
Weight: .54
Color: G
Clarity: SI1
Cut: Excellent
Clarity Characteristics: Crystal
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Fluorescence: None
Additional Inscription: Hearts and Arrows

Height: 59.5%
Table: 59%
Crown: 34.0 degrees
Pavilion: 40.6 degrees
Girdle: Thin (faceted)
Culet: None

I can purchase the diamond for $1,116.

I loved the HCA score and the Hearts and Arrows inscription from GIA made it appear to me that it would be a great selection. The only flag that sticks out to me, and I''m really a true novice at this, is how close the height % (59.5) and table % (59) are to each other. Should this be a major, obvious concern? What are your opinions of this diamond? Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It reads as if the diamond will be very lovely. The weakest linkis a very minor one, "thin" girdle. Otherwise it sounds just fine. Check out the value by comparing it to similar diamonds in the Pricescope search.

GIA do not say it is an H&A''s - they were told to inscribe it so, or it was already inscribed and they reported it.

Often such stones are not that symmetrical.

Use an appraiser if it is imortant to you and you are in doubt
