Its a good image, shows what might be a tiny area of leakage but even if so it might not be visible in reality, ask JA''s gemologist Julianna to check it out for you.Date: 7/29/2009 8:26:31 PM

After much waiting (requested it on last Thursday), here is the idealscope. Not thrilled with it. Thoughts? This might seal the deal for the BN stone.

Just to remind you about this one unless you don''t want to go for SI1, well within budgetDate: 7/30/2009 9:39:48 AM

Perhaps, but I think at this point, it''s a ''mind-clean'' issue for me. It''d bug me knowing there''s leakage. And while I like the H&A rock Lorelei found, my absolute upper bound is $25k, and that ring would be ~$27k after all''s said and done. Gotta draw the line somewhere.
Honestly, starting to get frustrated searching for that ''perfect'' stone. BN won''t do an idealscope for that 2.11 rock, so it''s either bite the bullet, or go back to searching.

NOT necessarily with VS2 especially with these sizes, no real guarantees as there can be too many conflicting factors, some viewers have sharper eyes, expectations, one VS2 might be a '' high'' VS2 or a low, in which case closer to SI1 so best to evaluate even VS stones carefully.Date: 7/23/2009 2:38:01 PM

Good to know. Over the phone, I was given the impression that VS2s would pass plain eye inspection, or otherwise they''d be SI1. But I think the more cautious approach is to actually look with your own eye! Hopefully I''ll be able to do that with the JA diamond. Won''t be able to with the BN diamond - but I think that''s ok because the plotting diagram shows no inclusions on the top - just two small ones on the underside.Date: 7/23/2009 2:22:06 PM

yap, agree, VS2 is not all eye-clean.
Any other rocks out there that might fit the bill? ~$20-25k, 2ct+, G-H, VS1-SI1? I was only able to find the BN stones, and stone-cold11 made a great find over at JA.

Seriously, you guys and gals are amazing. Like I said before, I'd pay to subscribe to this site. Thank you sincerely for all the assistance.
I've looked at your suggestions, and I think I can safely say that my lower bound for clarity is VS2. I'm a perfectionist (e.g., the idealscope I posted basically ruined that diamond for me), and I know that the inclusions in an SI1 diamond would bug me forever. So while my focus is primarily on cut (thanks to PS!) and then clarity, my girlfriend's priority is size. So, that said, I won't be buying anything below 2 ct. With hard boundaries of 2+ ct., VS2, ~$23k, and the best possible cut, I'm leaning strongly toward the BN rock (2.11, VS2, 0.8 HCA, ~$23k), but I'll scour the net for another week and post anything I find.
There is a serious balancing act between 'making sure I'm thorough and not rushing into the first acceptable diamond I find' and 'killing myself searching for that perfect stone within my range' - I didn't fully anticipate this! But you guys make the process much less stressful, so again, thank you.
Ok, that did it. *booking flight*Date: 7/30/2009 11:49:07 AM
