Hello everyone….

Hi, this is the BF again. Thanks for all of the help thus far. We’ve kind of got this narrowed down to 2 stones in particular, and would like to solicit an opinion.

We have come to rely on the opinions of members of this board and would like to hear comments, suggestions, or guidance. We have seen both of these stones in person and they both appear to be gorgeous. The best way to make a decision would probably be to have the stones side-by-side, but since they are from different vendors that will not be possible.

Here are the specs:

Stone “A” Stone “B”

Shape & cutting style Cushion Brilliant Cushion Brilliant
Measurements 7.89 x 7.20 x 4.8 mm 8.06 x 7.23 x 4.53 mm
Weight 1.92 2.02
Depth 66.7 % 62.7%
Table 56% 57%
Girdle Med – Slightly thick, faceted Very thin – very thick, faceted
Culet Medium None
Polish Excellent Very good
Symmetry Excellent Good
Clarity VS1 VS2
Color E H
Fluorescence Faint None

Cost difference n/a +$1,400

Other Small jeweler, but recommended on this forum This is GRAFF jewlers, an International jeweler with quite a bit of “prestige”
to the name. Any comments on Graf?

Cut concerns Based on diagram, this appears to be a “modern” Based on the diagram, this appears to be a “traditional” cushion
cushion.

Here is a picture of Stone "A". Decisions, decisions!! Any suggestions? I''ll see if I can post more later.

Based on the specs, I would say Stone A because of the better color, cut, polish and symmetry... Stone B is an H color, only 0.04 larger, so I don''t know if it''s worth the $1400 more. The price difference should be pretty high from an E to H color (much higher for E)... I''ve been to a Graff store, they do have very pretty stones and boast of cutting it in their own facility... But not sure if the name is really worth that much...

Just my 2 cents...

GOOD LUCK!

PS I''m also looking at some cushions this week, I''ll post them up later when I have the specs.

Thanks Rockaholic!

Does it matter about the pattern of the facets? (see the bottom of the first post) Both stones are beautiful, but they each have a different look. Is one pattern better than the other?

Thanks!

I second Stone A! I don''t think one faceting pattern is better than the other, I think it more of a personal preference.

I am looking at cushions myself, only much smaller than yours (lucky girl!). I would go with the first one. Cushion "B" seems to be better cut as far as depth and table goes but for me it wouldn''t be worth another $1400. Cushion A in the photo on your hand looks beautiful, who could ask for more?
