For those that named your ring, how did you come up with it? Spur of the moment, thought out ahead of time, other....? Thx!

I've never named a piece of jewelry - I guess that I just don't get it.

I call mine "Quazie" short for Quasimodo because one shoulder (its a pear shape) is a little higher than the other.

I saw this before I bought the stone, and I thought hard about how it would look in a setting, but it was a real fireball and even for all its imperfections (its also a 'warm' color, a J/K with faint blue fluor) I just felt attracted to it and it was the one I settled on.

I name everything/everybody I love.

Every diamond has its own personality and moods. Case in point: the emerald cut is named Old Miss Evil.

I'm loving ALL these answers! They have made me smile, think and LOL. Keep em coming! :wavey:

I have a small stone that I call my Aloha diamond because her inclusions(under 20x) look like the Hawaiian islands to me.

You mean other than My Preciousssss?

For me personally, names for inanimate objects don't "stick" unless they come about organically - i.e., they pop into mind and keep doing so. I have a hard enough time remembering names and information I actually need!

I actually didn't name my OEC ER but other PSers did and it stuck. And I'm glad it did because the ring and the name have a special meaning for me and it just makes it that much more special as it is named after my grandmother. It's a long backstory that I will spare you as it has been shared on PS before.

My main e-ring''s center is named, "frozen piss" because it's a yellow diamond and I'm crass and silly. :wall:  :naughty:   :Up_to_something: :cheeky: :boohoo:

I have a brown-pink diamond that I've aptly named choco-berry Finn.

I haven't named anything else in my jewelry box. Anything I came up with was anticlimactic after these two. Lololol

this is a fun thread. I actually call it bright ice. My husband said he was going to go get a diamond that was bright like my bright eyes. so kind of sentimental with this one. He is gone for a year in Korea. When I look down at bright ice I think of his kindness.

This one brought tears to me eyes. Thank you for sharing, Victoria.

I'm loving all the posts. Missy, I thought of naming mine after my grandmother as well. She was very special. She loved flowers, had a very green thumb, and was a delicate 4 ft. 11 woman.

Clever names, tyty333 and PintoBean. :D

They're named for the personality of the ring or centrestone.

Valentina was my grand-aunt's name, and the pink and hearts really fit the 'valentine' and the meaning of Valentina fit my life situation for which this ring was created.

Edith because it's a nice, "old-time" name that sounds very beautiful and fitting for the antique ring from the past.

Tiny Tim is the ring on the left. It's prongs are uneven, making its "legs" look wonky.

Freckles for its black carbon inclusions.

Hey sparkly, I think that is beautiful that you want to name after your grandma. Now that you said that, your ring design does look like flowers with twist vine. Oh how i can't wait for spring to come now!

Ah, the Valentina, love seeing your ring madeline.

The Little King is a Royal Asscher. I name all my purses, too, but that's another thread.

Here is Fat Albert.

No names for inanimate objects here (even scintillating ones). I struggled even to name my pets as a child. Hamster called Hammy, goldfish called Rover, you get the picture. Managed to get it together for my two children luckily but that's it.
My cars are nameless too, one or two of my friends have named their cars which always throws me.

"Fat Albert" that is hilarious!!!!

These are great stories (and pictures). I name everything yet I've never named any of my jewelry. I should get busy with that. :wavey:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chitty_Chitty_Bang_Bang

and my very first bike (purple with a princess flower seat) I named Sarsaparilla. LOL I am officially nutty I know. :cheeky:
