Name for these pearls?

Is there a name for these pearls? All I know is that they're freshwater pearls! The luster and rainbow hues caught my eye and I got them to make into a tin cup style necklace.

Comets or FIreballs. They are beautiful I own a few strands and other pieces I picked up at the pearl market in Shanghai, China. I love them as you get a big bang for a little buck and some people mistake them for south sea pearls. I heard that they are 'mistakes' as they are not the coveted round shape but as the Chinese pearl cultivation technology is quickly improving that they are occuring less frequently.
