Sooooo... I got this heart a few a couple weeks back.
31.gif

ANd my hubby is going to get it set for me for Valentines Day.

Now...... heres the question...

I want it to be a pendant---- how should I set it? a basket?
I saw one with bunny ears.. and I wasn''t a fan.

I already wear a .40 halo Oec daily.... so this one will be worn on a shorter chain..so it will be closer to my neck.

Also--- I''m excited bec it''s an M--- and my Hubby''s name starts with an M
1.gif
so it feels special and has more meaning to me.

oh stats:
Carat Weight: .46
Clarity: SI2
Color: M
Dimensions: 4.93h x 4.23w x 3.08mm
it''s super eye clean and has a nice sparkle to it.

Here is a pic zoomed 10X
I will try to post my pics later
1.gif

does anyone have suggestions?
I am hoping to get it set before V-day

Thanks for looking!

Hmm, I'd want a setting that keeps its heart shape-ness and I can see how bunny ears would not do that. Maybe a basket with V-prong at the point and 2 normal prongs in the 10 and 2 o'clock positions? Maybe even a bezel, though I'm sure that would be pricy-icy for the heart shape. If it were possible to make a good bezel for this heart.

Looks like a lovely heart! Can't wait for neck shots! In the meantime, how about some with it resting on your hand for perspective.

It is a lovely diamond. I love hearts. I have a RHR with a 1/2 ct. heart diamond. I would go with a basket setting. I had them redo the prongs on my ring when I first had it mounted because they put the prongs on the top; as Cara suggested if they have prongs at the 10 and 2 position it defines the heart shape a bit more. I can''t wait to see the finished pendant. Your husband is very thoughtful.

Oh blinky, what a beautiful necklace that will make! I would vote for a basket setting, but no bale. What do you think of attaching the chain directly to the basket? Your jeweler would have to pick the appropriate place, so it won''t tip forward when you wear it. Also, I''ve seen necklaces where there are larger circles soldered onto the basket, and the chain is then attached to the circles. I tend to think it would look better without those - they look like mickey mouse ears to me. Can''t wait to see how it all turns out. Kudos to your husband for such a great gift!!

I love this stone -- it''s a nice shape... it''s gonna be a knock-out.

... and what a great heirloom.
I agree with AprilBaby -- a bezel would really show off the outline of the heart

can''t wait to see the final product!

Hmmm, I just saw some thinly-bezeled necklaces on the 23rd Street Jewelers site, and they look gorgeous! Here's a pic of the "mouse ears" that I always notice - not so gorgeous...

YUM!
That is a gorgeous heart
30.gif

I vote for a bezel with a bale.
I really don''t like wearing necklaces w/out because they are always crooked.
I have a diamond heart necklace that I love with a bale, and it always sits just right.
I can''t wait to see it set!

Maybe a gemstone halo? Ruby for V-day, or DH''s birthstone? A colored halo would really make the heart shape and warm color pop (I adore M''s paired with sapphires, rubies or emeralds!), but not sure if you want to wear 2 halos.

WOW! you are right! I guess I never saw that site!
Darn it!-- I love the delicate bezel--- I was hoping to make this affordable. eek

Ericad -- I love the idea of a halo--- But the Hubs birthstone is diamond--no fair!
20.gif
hehe
and mine is Garnet--- which I wouldn''t want to halo with bec I love to steam my stuff.
hmmmmm....... I have this heart shape pendant (empty middle) that the hubs got for me a long time ago..... I wonder if the could put it in the middle?.... I should see if it fits tonight!
31.gif

On the other hand -->I really like the potential of a tiny delicate heart on a chain... so when you look at it far away--- it''s like a little glittery dot.....then beckons you in---- Lol what am I saying?!

iluvcarats--- I have always loved you avatar

the bezels on these look like the edge has a design?
this prob wouldn''t work bec the back is prob open and will cause it to roll or flip flop.

cute example of size tho--- the little diamond is cute on top too
