My Pear Ring is Finished!

I've finally got my ring, thanks in no small part to wisdom gained here.

The diamond, purchased from Enchanted, is a 1.5 E VVS2 pear with medium blue fluorescence. The setting is a Coast setting that I picked out at Quest.

Please forgive my lack of photography skills...I couldn't get a pic that came even close to doing the ring justice, but I got tired of trying ... so here it is (along with my cat):

Yes! Coast makes a matching band, and when worn with this ring it looks like my finger is wrapped in diamond-studded lace!

I wouldn't have thought of this setting for the pear, either! Actually I probably wouldn't have considered the setting at all on my own just looking online. But Jeri at Quest spent a lot of time with me trying on settings -- she'd pull out a ring, I'd try it on, and then she'd put my pear diamond in the tongs and kind of hover it over the ring so I could see how it would look. In the end, after looking at many settings, I decided on this one. I think the design is delicate and simple enough that it doesn't detract from the pear shape. And I came in at budget with it, which I didn't think was going to happen.

I decided to go to Quest because I had decided on a cushion cut, and just when I was about to go online and buy a cushion cut, something told me I'd better head to the stores to try on rings just to see ... and I did ... and I didn't like the way cushion (or any other square-ish shapes) looked on my hand. Turned out I liked the way round and pear looked on my hand -- and round was the shape I definitely didn't want because I wanted something a little different. So -- knowing that I probably needed to see the options on my finger, I didn't buy the setting online when I bought the diamond. And I ended up buying that setting that I would never have thought of using with the pear. I'd originally thought I'd wanted a halo, and now I'm glad I didn't go that route because my diamond is so incredibly sparkly on its own.
