Well, I just got a phone message today that ring is in! I''m so excited I can hardly stand it!

I tried to call back when I came home, but the woman whom I''ve been dealing with was gone for the day. Tomorrow is impossible for me to get there, but I am planning on going on Saturday with my husband ( I think it''s MUCH more special that way!)

I CAN''T WAIT TO SEE IT FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will post photos as soon as I can!

Now the insurance questions...I''ll be asking lots of those too!!!

Yay, Ally! I can''t wait to see it! Be sure your camera battery is charged!

How exciting Ally, can''t wait to see pics this weekend!!!

How exciting!! I cannot wait to see your finished ring!

Yes that''s exciting. As far as insurance I think I''m going with Jewelers Mutual. I posted to find out about them but no responses yet.

http://jewelersmutual.com They have alot of info on their site and I called and talked to a live person today and they seem to be what I''m looking for.

I just called my Homeowners insurance and they can just put a rider on my existing policy to cover everything (except loss due to flood!) on my new ring! Seems much simpler to do things that way. Anyone else have their ring(s) insured through their homewoners with a rider policy!?

Yes, mine is on our homeowners policy.

That''s great Ally!

DS---

I have the papers for the rider on my homeowners but it does state that there is a maximum that they will insure. I wonder what specifically that is (the information is not listed).

Would you mind refreshing my memory on your ring? I can''t seem to remember specifics and am just curious what homeowners will cover. I can''t do anything until I get the appraisal and other information to send in to the insurance company and then it takes a couple of days for the underwriters to "do their thing". I don''t think I''m going to wear it out of the house until it''s insured! :)

Ally, your regular homeowners policy will have a low limit which is why you have to have it added as a scheduled item (or rider). But right at this moment, I am considering also getting a price quote from Chubb, as I now understand the difference in two two kinds of policies. You can read about it in Stone Hunter's thread about "Does anyone know anything bad about Jeweler's Mutual" or something like that!

Basically, if your ring is lost or stolen, here is what happens. Homeowner's: they'll tell you a jeweler to go to who will attempt to replace what you had. The value you had it insured for will only be a maximum. The insurance can get disounts with these jewelers that they work with, so the amount they'll allow will be less that your covered amount in most cases. The part that bothers me is that I might want to upgrade or change my stone if I was in that situation, and this probably wouldn't work. Plus, I would likely want Good Old Gold to replace my stone, and that couldn't happen either. But I would be covered and I woould get a similar ring in the end.

Chubb: you have an appraised value for which you pay premiums, and upon a loss, they write you a check for the amount the ring was covered for. So you could use that money for a similar ring, and other diamond you wanted instead, or a cruise in the Mediterranean. So I am considering going that route. All my other jewelry is under $5000, and it will stay on the homeowners. But these diamonds took us SO MUCH TIME and EFFORT to find, that I surely would want to choose again if I had the extreme unfortunate circumstance of losing this one!!! However, I am not expecting this to happen, and if the premium is too high, I may just stick with the homeowners.

So my advice to you is to go to the Chubb site and get a quote, and then compare that with your homeowner's.

ds, have you actually talked to your agent about your coverage? I had the same concerns when I put my new ring on my jewelry rider and I talked to my agent about it. I told him, if anything ever happened to this ring, I wouldn''t want to accept a new stone from anyone but Jon. He said the company would try to replace it, but knowing how I felt, and having the detailed appraisal I do, that in the end I would get a check, and that a lot of people felt the way I did. (wanting to buy from the same place again)

Ellen, honestly when I did ask these questions, the person really didn''t know the answer. Maybe I am the first OCD person they''ve had! I did read someone else on here refusing the replacement diamonds offered and being cut a check, too. I do believe that could be accomplished because I would want Jon to replace my stone as well. And it''s just very unlikely to ever be an issue anyway. So that''s why I put it on the homeowner''s to begin with. I may leave it as it is.

My homeowners was more expensive and offered less flexibility than JM. Lower yearly cost with JM and I can work with the jeweler I want. Obviously I put in alot of time and research into this diamond. I would want to do that again if I had to replace it.

I haven''t contacted Chubb but from other PS posts it might be the most expensive option.

Hi EVERYONE! Picked up the rings today. I took some photos (I am DEFINATELY not an ace photographer!) but can''t seem to post them here. Anyone want to offer help!??

Yay, Ally! I wondered where you were! I thought you got it lst Sat.!

Try renaming the file. It can''t have the same name as any other ever posted here. Do something like allysring001, etc. If the picture is too big, you have to reduce the size.

But go over and start a new thread on Show Me the Ring

Ok, so for all of you who have helped me with my decision(S)....I''ve posted a few pictures on Show ME THE RING ! I hope you all enjoy them. You have helped me so much! THANKS!
