Hello,
I would love everyone’s opinion on my new ring. It is a 1.69ct G color, SI2 round diamond. I had the setting custom made because I can never find thick, substantial settings anywhere.
The setting is 14k white gold and 3.25mm wide x 2.5mm thick.
I am currently having a full eternity band made to match, which will be 3mm wide x 2.5mm thick. I will add those pictures when it is done in a couple of weeks.

What do you think of the setting? Too thick or wide looking? I wear a size 7.25

Thanks for any replies. 8F93B04F-B09C-41BF-B6D7-15A5566D97D3.jpeg50EA9BAB-87D7-4D28-906F-F3D47728D599.jpeg15DA3F1C-5DFF-43DE-92FB-7BA372ECD044.jpeg44A37815-ABC6-4959-8B58-C3696E9C159D.jpeg50964D04-0248-4D09-847C-4AE015790D65.jpeg1D265BC5-0A9F-452E-8BAF-70E6C5589509.jpeg83821267-F210-4B9C-A807-E3AD20F5B9E3.jpeg

I also had it set quite low because I tend to bump my current ring a lot.

I love it!! Absolutely love it!

I am also a 7.25 (started out a 6, 20 years ago). I went the thinner route and have thoroughly enjoyed it. For some reason I have been hankering for rings with more presence as of late. Your ring hits that mark to perfection! Beautifully balanced metal to diamond ratio, soooo flattering to your hand, lush metal, and a beautiful profile to top it off. The diamonds is still the star of the show, with the metal drawing the eye toward it in the most scrumptious way.

I think the band you chose will compliment it perfectly. Together, your rings will give you the best of both worlds - yummy, lush metal paired with a generous sparkle and fire!

Plus, I would be less worried about the damage the eternity will do with the setting you have chosen as I feel like it can handle it. I personally don't enjoy having a spacer, yet I love eternities, so this would be the ideal set in my mind - absolutely gorgeous, easy to wear (no worries), with a present yet comfortable feel.

A long-time PSer, @Ellen, has a setting that reminds me of yours. I have always LOVED it. Her ring has never failed to catch my eye and stop me in my tracks to admire it for a while whenever I am cruising long threads on PS. Much as I suspect yours will too!

Omg!! You worded that so beautifully!! Thank you so much!! ❣️

I had the same thoughts when I was deciding what kind of setting I wanted. I wanted simple but with a good “presence” and a little more sparkle with adding the eternity band.

I just now went back and looked at @Ellen rings and they are marvelous!!

I think I may need to get a plain band made to match the solitaire ring, just to change things up sometimes.

Thanks so much for your kind words ❤️

Very classic and elegant. I help my best friend and my sister-in law choose their engagement rings in the early 2000's and they both chose styles similar to yours. It is not "thick" by any means, it is just more substantial than what is en vogue. I think it your ring looks great on you, and will look balanced with your eternity!

My pictures are crappy too!! I just use my iPhone camera.

Love this - and your upcoming eternity! I love the substance!

@marcy - here's one after your own heart!

Thanks sooo much!!

Ooh, I love that set!! It’s beautiful in yellow gold too. ❣️❣️❣️

I find it a bit too thick and squarish for my own taste, but if you like it, that’s great. I would advise you to have them revisit the setting of the diamond, as it isn’t set symmetrically. Perhaps that was intentional, though. Are you trying to hide an inclusion under a prong? If so, sorry to have mentioned it.

Well, I think it's right smart. When I make my next ring I'm going to up the mm/thickness a little bit because I find I am really hard on my rings- I don't mean to be, it just happens. I am mindful of them as best I can. Less worry is always a good thing!
Make sure to show us that eternity and as a set!

Everything goes in and out of style. I think it will be gorgeous with your eternity band! A thin stacker would look pretty in between at some point.

Wow! I didn’t even notice it wasn’t symmetrical. Thanks for pointing that out. To my knowledge, they weren’t trying to cover any inclusions but I will definitely go back to my jeweler and have him take a look at that.

Thanks for that info. I would have never noticed.

Thank you. I’m pretty hard on my rings too. I just also really like the look of metal (gold). Hence, the thickness and width. Lol

Thanks! I was thinking of another stacker in the future, if I have enough room on my finger, which I should considering how long they are. Lol

Thanks for everyone’s input! I will update when I get the eternity band. This will be my “everyday” set, so I wanted thick, sturdy and low set. I’m hard on rings and use my hands a lot at work plus putting latex gloves on during 12 hour shifts as a respiratory therapist

P.S……my pictures are horrible!! I use my phone camera and my house lighting is very dim and yellowish . I truly cannot do justice to stones and rings

Ah, finally found the image I was looking for. Your ring reminded me of the Tiffany Lucida, which was the "It" ring that everyone was hankering for! This was the band that Tiffany sold to match the Lucida Solitaire:

Yesssss…….I used that as my inspiration for this ring but with a round diamond. I have loved that ring forever!!! Even though it’s not the current style right now….I still love that ring dearly.

The only other thing I changed was the channel set wedding band. I’ve had a channel set “wedding ring set” forever and wanted a change plus a little more bling. Thus..the shared prong eternity band.

It’s also similar to the vatche X prong setting :))

Congratulation, it's beautiful! Please post more photos when your eternity arrives.
