My new pear is picked now it needs a setting please help!!!

Finally after 3 years my stolen ering is going to be replaced!! I have this pear in the works at GOG and I have asked for a video so I can see it in action.

Next choice is the setting. I go back a forth about a halo, I love them always on someone else, but when I picture it on my hand not so much.

I was thinking a 3 stone possibly w .25 round sapphires. What other shapes look good with a pear?? Chime in everyone!! I have looked at the Pears fan club hundreds of times and just get more confused!
I love the swoopy look of a trellis but I dont think a pear can fit in a trellis. I was alos thinking of some engraving on the band make it look vintage.
Since it is from GOG I looked a bit on their site but it is not so user friendly.

Suggestions are welcome, every post gets us closer to a winner!!!

aww yummy pear, congrats! I usually like trillions with pears, but found this picture totally different and unique. I find it looks very romantic because of the curviness ( if that even makes scence lol)

I always loved Jessica Simpon's first engagement ring. It was a pear with side stones in pear shaped but they were perpendicular to the center stone. It was gorgeous!

Thanks for the suggestions. I do like the simple look of baguette sides the original Ering in 1978 was the classic look. The I had an accident with it and neede to replace the setting, so I went with the round side stones bezeled and smaller baguettes beneath them. That was the ring that was stolen.

Clueless I kinda like that, different than what I think I want, but you see I am all over the place!
Mogster I too Love bezels hence the rose gold bezel reset I just did of my pendant and studs! Plus I have a 5 stone that is bezel set.For Your viewing pleasure here is the link to the stone: :love:

Its a lovely stone. I have baguettes with my pear but I would rather have trillions or more pears as side stones. Or
maybe a band with small pave set stones. I thought about halo-ing mine at one point but just wasnt sure if thats
what I really wanted.

Wow, I just took a look at the video and your pear is GORGEOUS! I love seeing pears in halos or with small pear sidestones like this one from DiaDiva (I hope she doesn't mind her pic being used)

I really like annee's suggestion and DiaDiva's proportions.

If it were mine, I'd nix the side stones and put it in something akin to the Tiffany Bezet pear. Something about that just makes my mouth water...

In my last marriage I had a custom setting made for my pear. I had two tanzanite trilliant side stones, it was pretty. I got my pear four months ago and had gotten the simple stuller setting from GOG because it was supposed to be my temporary setting but I am still loving it as a solitaire.

Gypsy that BGD is to die for wish I had a spare 6K I would do that in a heartbeat. The other two are very pretty too, I worry about a split shank as I tend to puff and might end up with MUFFIN SHANK!!

Hmmm, I LOVE haloed pears. I also love baugette side stones or pear sidestones. Really, you can't go wrong!

One of my friends has a low set pear with baguette sides, paired with a round diamond shared prong eternity band. I drool everytime we go out to dinner, her set is so gorgeous and sparkly!

Jessica Simpson's three stone pear (old e-ring) is to die for. And Katherine Hiegl's (sp?) haloed pear with a sapphore and diamond eternity band so soooo gorgeous!

I like the BGD setting that Gypsy posted, though I agree that the proportions would need to be adjusted. If you like the setting, see what it might cost scaled to fit your pear. It never hurts to ask. I also love the look of a classic 3 stone. I was shocked by how much I liked that pear with the side traps....TDF!!! :love:

I say give BGD a call. FInd out if they can simplify it somehow for your budget and still have it be similar enough that you love it. They can omit the last marquise on the shank and replace it with a small bezelled round. And if the proportions are adjusted and the sidestones are made smaller so the center is the star... it doesn't hurt to ask, right? 6K is a lot... but anything with substantial sidestones is gonna set you back.


Can you wait to set it a while and save up? I'm a big fan of getting the setting you want.

I know what you mean about muffin shanks. If the shanks are close enough together though, it might work. Or how about a split crown instead? 59AA18.jpg

Your pear is beautiful! I have always loved Jessica Simpson's three stone pear! I also love katherine Heigl's halo'd pear. Good luck! What a fun decision to have to make!
