My mysterious yellow enigma diamond !

The "where" I got this is a very stupid long story. So I will spare you. But the jewelry store is known to me. I was on their website and there was a bad pic of a champagne diamond they listed as I think S/T, uncertified, but it looked champagne in the pic. BUT IT WAS OLD MINE!!!! I figured, hey, they allow returns, why not?? I dont really care about yellow, i care about OLD MINE!! So it came and i took pics inside, it was champagne looking and I loved it.

Then I went outside.

It turned bright greenish yellow!! I posted and asked on Rocky Talky and figured it was fluorescence. I sent to David Klass because the original Georgian setting was doing nothing for it. Also 2 of the halo diamonds needed to be replaced. I also wanted to brighten the color.

The new setting makes a HUGE difference, I love this ring so much, it is hands down my favorite ring.

So here we go, Chameleon diamond, 2.72 Old Mine, Fancy Brown yellow with medium blue Fluorescence, DAVID KLASS NAILED the setting I asked for!!!I MIGHT still have them blacken the center halo like the original setting, but for now I am leaving as is

Someone posted about a UV light from Amazon and it’s in my cart!!! I have to order it !!!! Hahaha!!

David said he would replace 2 of the halo stones that were damaged but used all the originals he could…. But I just asked and he said he was able to use all the originals!

It has great finger coverage too. But the uniqueness of the color, and the changing shades of the color, combined with that puffy crown that really make me swoon!

It is my favorite ring of yours too. I think this is why lab diamonds can't totally replace natural diamonds. This is something too special. Only Mother Nature can do this.

It also goes to show that bigger isn't always better, though I think with that halo it looks plenty big. Beautiful big!!! I adore it on your ring finger in particular. Though lets be honest, it would look amazing on one of your toes!!!!!

What an amazing stone, it's truly once in a lifetime! I liked the original setting, but your reimagined version is better.

An old cut cluster is on my list of "one day" projects. But it's hard for me to find antique settings I like enough to wear, and also hard to build from scratch, having to find the right size halo stones and all. I was also considering resetting all original stones from an old setting, and you've inspired me even more!

Get yourself a UV light. The wee yellow diamond band rings I have glow uranium green under UV and it’s very cool.

OF COURSE! So there is a cup under the diamond that is 18k rose gold, the rest is 18k yellow gold and then the black is added after. He sent me pic before he blackened it to make suer i wanted it blackened LoL

AGREE AGREE AND AGREE!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE my labs, it allows me to have "more" and "bigger", but there's the mystery for me of something being 150 years old that I love so much!! AND like you said, the labs are pretty 'perfect', i love the asymmetry and imperfections of the earth... and this weirdness of it color changing i feel like you probably cant replicate with a lab!!!
