anyone else feel this way that had custom work done from a distance? how did it all turn out? i could use some soothing words!

In case you haven't seen my post.. I'm in the same boat and I've actually seen a CAD of my ring. I'll let you know how it turns out in 2 weeks.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I have my Leon ring ordered and am waiting for it to be completed. I have dreams/nightmares about it. The two most reoccuring dreams are about opening the box and it being nothing like I imagined and I hate it, or I dream I open the box and the diamond is pin point size and really not attractive. I usually go the the Art of Plat website and look at the rings and regain my calm, as I really love almost everything he has made. PLEASE keep us posted when it arrives. Good Luck!

P.S. What type piece is Leon doing for you?

I flew abroad to pick mine up and can't even tell you how nervous I felt when I went to go pick it up, I was like if this doesn't turn out like I want I'm in big trouble. Well I picked it up and it turned out perfect so don't even worry.

i had leon make my ring and it was not at all what i wanted and it was a nightmare getting it --sort of-fixed. i ended up selling the setting and going elsewhere two years later. sorry but there is no telling.

I had the same feeling when I was about to receive mine. Like the last few days I was having little panic attacks. Well, I LOVE my ring and am so happy happy happy. But it is super hard to take that leap of faith.

My advice: vodka

It is extremely rare to have a Leon customer who is dissatisfied. If you had him make something he has made before, then there shouldn't be much mystery! I think the rare problems are when the design isn't 100% clear to both parties at the outset. Anyway, my solitaire from him his beautiful! Just remember that handmade will look handmade, not cast. To me, that's what makes each piece totally unique!

I understand just how you feel. Even when he sends you photos, IRL it will look different, so you won't know until you see it in person.

You know the craftsmanship is going to be incredible. LM's sense of proportion is perfect. So there's not much to be nervous about.

Keep us posted? Pretty please? :))

Everything is going to be fine. You're going to love it! So are we when you show it to us. Hang in there. You'll see. :saint:

Normal feeling, only to have that anxiety replaced by an amazing joyful feeling when you have the final product in hand from those masters in perfection. You are blessed to have a piece made by the legendary Leon. I wish him a long prosperous life but his master pieces are going to be sought after for a very very long time.

I'm glad others feel nervous as well...I guess it's a whole nother ball game when you've never seen the ring in person....

I was really nervous before receiving my Leon since we had a slightly differing opinions on the design. But the minute I saw it, I knew the exterior was absolutely perfect. I also got a solitaire and I'm glad I went with Leon since his prongs blend in seamlessly with the facets and the cathedral is so fluid. You're going to love your ring!

I was about at near panic before I got my ring. I loved it as soon as I saw it, but it does have a couple of things that I am not
happy with. I had my wedding date engraved inside it, and Leon put it at the bottom sizing bar instead of up next to the ruby I
had set inside, where I had asked for it to be. Also, there is one tiny diamond that is dead. All in all, I am glad that I went
with my ring. It is classic and the pave (except the one diamond) is absolutely perfect and stunning. No one does work that
delicate. He has a way with lines and curves that is simply exceptional.

Your ring will be perfect, and I am sure you will love it. Sometimes you need your eyes to catch up with your mental picture that
you have been holding for 8 weeks. So just give it a bit of time to grow on you. I can't wait to see it!

Everyone feels that way when they are getting a custom ring or reset. I was really worried before I got my custom eternity from WF, and when I was just waiting for my BGD reset - would I like it enough to justify the $ spent on it?

However, as soon as I opened both boxes, I was in love, and the rings were perfect. I have never worked with Leon, but plan to for our 10th anniversary. I think that his rings are exquisite, and I've never seen one that I thought was less than perfect.

You are going to love your Leon, and we will too - post pics when you get it!

I am very nervous about a ring coming from BGD. :errrr:

I think your ring is in VERY good hands, don't fret! I think chances are slim you will be disappointed. Everytime I look at his site, I fall in love with something else. Not a dud on there.

Please post pics when you get it! :appl:

sorry for going MIA folks! thanks for all your responses!

maybe i'm more nervous because i think i may have confused Leon with what i wanted.. at one point he told me what i was describing sounded like a ring from jc penney  after that conversation i emailed and told him to do what he thought was best and i def did not want a jc penney-looking ring! but he also told me he likes to set his solitaires as low as possible, and i wanted it raised up slightly, so i'm a little nervous about that...

i emailed in response to their email that the ring was almost finished and asked for a picture, but i didn't get a response :(

individual replies are coming now :)

ooo i hope none of those dreams come true! but just like most everyone has said, i'm (almost) sure we are worrying for nothing, right? i do that too-- going to his website to remind myself what awesome work he does!

he's making me a solitaire ER.

make sure you keep us posted on yours, too!

so glad it turned out well for you! i know what you mean about being "in big trouble"... we def spent more than originally planned, so if i don't like it my fiance will prolly be a tad bit PO'ed :?

did you put pics up? i'd love to see em!

missydebby i saw your ring before and it is incredible! it looks very similar to my dream ring, but unfortunately the fi does not like so much bling! (what is wrong with men?) i hope i turn out to love mine as much as you do yours! like i said before, i'm just scared that i confused leon! but he would have asked me if he was confused, right? ok, i need to stop...

and thanks for the advice!

thanks for the reply diamondseeker! i suppose a solitaire is simple enough, but i feel i may have confused him on the shape of the shank and what height to set the stone. in the end i told him he knows best and to use his expert judgement, which i hope he did!

what do you mean though, that handmade will look handmade? what are the differences that you notice?

thanks cali! i do love those prongs! can't wait to see em on my rock! i think i am in the same nervous boat you were in because of our differing opinions on the design. in the end, i hope he just did what he felt was right even if it went against something i said, because i was even confusing myself with what i wanted! we'll see!
