My gorgeous new checkerboard OEC/tranny blingalisciousness!

I sold my .4 BGD bezel pendant with the intention of diving into ebay to get a larger stone for a new pendant. The plan was to use the proceeds from the sold pendant to finance the new project 100% so I needed to get a great deal on a new stone.


Well...


Um...


Yeah...


I did, but it's not going in a pendant...


the pendant project still has to happen b/c I miss having it and it is the only necklace that works with some of my work clothes (and my amazingly patient DH is on board with that project even though it's not the greatest time for us to do that right now)...


b/c...


I used the proceeds of my pendant sale, plus most of my "fun" money to get a little something for my right hand (DH and I are both very attached to my wedding set, so my RH is the only real estate available...)

And if I can find my loupe tomorrow, there will be many many more


I still have to get it verified by a jeweler but according to the seller it is a G VS approx. .8ct set in original platinum setting.


It is GORGEOUS! A perfect checker board pattern, super white, but shoots rainbows, bright from edge to edge without a single dark zone. I never in a million years thought that I would get a diamond this gorgeous!


The setting gives it a TON of finger presence and it turns out that it looks extra blingtastic with my antique 1.25 ct five stone (another ebay steal from a few years ago--I won the auction in the last second by $0.01, very exciting!) and it looks perfect with my "real" wedding band (my actual wedding band wasn't made in time for our wedding, so I bought a $50 antique band off of ebay a few days before our wedding and had it express shipped.

It is so pretty but your pictures are terrible! You must spend 1000 hours practicing. You have time, right?

DD_I know, my pics suck..once I stop trolling ebay for a pendant stone I'll have time to learn how to take proper photos I just lost an auction for what I think could have been a very interesting stone and am right now

I love my ering setting. DH worked very hard to design the setting as a surprise and I love it! The only thing that I would change in the setting is if the side diamonds were a little bigger and a little better so they had more presence, but he did a great job! Your sapphire would look amazing in a similar setting and I am sure with your taste that the sidestones would be perfection

Oh man, that's gorgeous!! Beautiful stone and a really pretty setting! I love your diamond band too - I don't think I've ever seen a pic of it, the profile is really nice. Congrats Bella, a wonderful and amazing find!

Enerchi and Dandi-aw, thank you so much. I love that my ering is getting some love too (and DH is proud as a peacock He worked so hard on it, even opening a PS account to get advice! He picked the sapphire and sidestones, designed the setting (CADs and virtual mock-ups, the whole nine yards) and stayed in his budget. His budget was limited, and we'd had a rough year (We were actually broken up when we he proposed...long story, but basically he did this 100% all on his own and he really did a great job! and now that I have some sparkle for my RH, perfection

Yenny, yeah, pendant-schmendant...well, actually, pendant wha-hoo!!!! b/c I just bought a pendant stone and am officially on a diamond purchasing moratorium! It should be here this week, let's hope it checks out.

jeweln-I thought that my budget would never stretch to this, but ebay can really work some amazing blingmiracles! So, save your funds but also start searching ebay.

So, yeah, I just got a pendant stone. Hoping that it checks out this week and looks good in person, but if it works out, it's a chunkier, open culet stone, allegedly eyeclean G SI1, almost .8 ct.

If I get as much as I think I can for the setting, then I will have actually stayed pretty much on budget for the pendant project (it's going to be set in a custom setting, sort of like the BGD milgrain barbara from the front and like the Sally lotus from the back)

The RHR, well, that's my fun money for the next 3 years, but I think it's totally worth it! Plus, it's great incentive to clean out my closet and list my nice barely worn clothes to re-coup some funds

and oooh a pendant! Post pics of that once you've got it ... I love looking at old stone pics. Set that camera on macro and use natural lighting, it will soooo help!
