Oooh boy...not a Brazilian Paraiba virgin anymore! I got too excited so I snapped a couple of terrible photos right after opening the package in my car just outside post office (sorry!)

I would like to wear it in a pendant, 18k yellow gold, with the point downwards. Now, how open should the gallery be to maximize glow?

Also, slide pendant or with a bail for more movement? The options are endless! I was thinking bezel set too.

I like a simple bezel like the HEART_CVB_2.jpg heart in the attached photos. I find it hard to find a picture of a trillion pendant exactly how I want it though....ideas welcome!!! My trillion is 5.8x5.8mm MVIMG_20200220_164956.jpg MVIMG_20200220_164923.jpg HEART_CVB_4_LT.jpg

Please do not bezel. Most paraiba have internal fractures and bezeling can cause chips.

Funny how I find the color so much more saturated in the pics than in real life! Lol

Further to what @T L said, I believe that bezelling puts strain on the stone as it is being set. Of course any stone can have a risk.

If you want to take a chance, here is a jeweller in Ottawa who does lots bezel settings.

https://www.disegnojewellery.ca/

I have had 3 garnets and a diamond done in bezel designs by her. She sends the setting work out to specialized artisans who only set stones.

How clean is the tourmaline? It is going to be fairly protective as a pendant and if you want the bezel look, I would go for prong set but with a slight metal surround which will give the bezel look without the bezel risk.

Probably best not to take a chance with such a beautiful stone.
My goodness, what a lovely colour! I never thought I liked turquoise, until I saw paraibas.

I might wait, save up and try to see if David Klass can make a pendant for it ;-) unless there's a really good Canadian artist who can do it ;-)

I think it's quite included inside. I don't really want to take a chance at damaging the stone, so I agree with ruling out a bezel I think (please excuse my horrid hands. So dry!!! MVIMG_20200221_120738.jpg MVIMG_20200221_121338.jpg MVIMG_20200221_120819.jpg
Tell your jeweler not to stream clean it or put it in an ultrasonic cleaner either. Jewelers use them frequently after setting a stone.

That is one of the most beautiful color's of paraiba I have seen. To me color is king. I own a small round from Paraiba International but it is not of the highest quality, Still pretty but nothing comparable to yours. May I ask who you purchased this through, I have seen some similar ones on an Etsy vendor. I am always on the hunt for one with more saturation and glow and I would be thrilled to find one similar to yours. Enjoy this beauty.

@GLbluegreen I purchased from desertrose on Instagram. She sometimes posts on loupetroop I think. She was at the Tuscan gem show and was posting different gems. I really wanted her to get me a paraiba

She still have some for sale I think!
