Cofor, I''ve never seen a tourmaline with that color before. It''s quite stunning!

I can totally see that in a rose gold head.

Me too! And ditto the green apple jolly rancher comments! What a gorgeous color.

Yay for Jolly ranchers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love that color!

Bought at a swedish auction site. More pics as soon as it reaches my mailbox.

Well, well...
The color was not really that apple green when I got it home. It is cut on the C-axis and has good green, medium saturated in all directions. A recut will make it much more attractive I''m sure.
This image in incandescent light. Will try some daylight shots tomorrow.

Oh bummer. Have you looked at in different lights yet? I have one that''s gloomy in sunlight but great and bright in diffused sun+recessed cannister lighting.

It''s a pretty color, but not that close to what the vendor pic portrayed.

I had a feeling the pic was color enhanced, but I didn''t want to say so until you got the stone. Still, it is a pretty stone.

Yah me too and yes still pretty!

That is some color enhancement on the vendor photo!

At least the stone has enough depth to keep the outline pretty close to original and still recut to increase brilliancy and visual color distribution. Unfortunately it will probably end up under 2 ct after recutting. It cost me no more than 30 bucks so I concider it pretty OK anyway.
What annoys me the most is that I have plenty of rough tourmaline far better in color already, no real apple green though.

For instance this green Afghan tourmaline. Bought in Peshawar in 1995.

How pretty and bright! I would love to have one!

ETA: I only saw the initial pic before I posted. Then I looked for more pics - wow it looks really different in person. It is still very pretty, but it bothers me that the color in person is so different than the pic you thought you purchased. I have a hard time believing it was just different lighting - did the vendor have an explanation?

I have not yet asked the vendor for any explanation. For 30 dollars I would not even bother to discuss this with the vendor, I simply will never do any further business with this person. It seems to me that too many vendors at online auction sites as a rule use false descriptions, enhanced images or even different images than the actual item.
When I was dealing in gemstones for a living (not very long ago) honesty was crucial and mandatory amongst serious dealers. When I needed some specific rough diamonds I contacted any of my connections in Antwerp or London and described what I needed. A parcel with rough arrived by courier. I picked what I needed and returned the rest. Got my invoice when the returned goods had arrived the seller. In the same way I shipped cut stones to buyers. Today I would never do this with the same confidence as I did back then, if I do not know the buyer in person.

I can just imagine how many buyers with lack of experience in gem trading that are getting fooled by unscrupolous dealers with no more interest in stones than to make a fortune without honour or decency. God I feel old when I express this :)

Well, for $30 bucks, I would not expect it look like in the on in the the photograph. At that price point, it''s also probably not worth the hassle of returns.

It''s still a very pretty stone, and for $30, I wouldn''t have a problem with it (but yeah, as you said, wouldn''t do business with that seller again). But like I said, very pretty!

Here is the daylight image. Not too bad I think. It is slightly less bluish in reality.
