I know it is! I have red bag envy. I''m not feeling too sorry for myself though as I do adore my new bag! It could really do with a red friend though

wow-18 months! I don''t think my patience lasts that long-it will be worth it though. How long more do you think you have to wait or do they give you a guideline?

whenever I call I am told I am still on the list so it is bizarre to me. I have not pushed too hard, the bags are something like 7000.00 plus right now...not in a rush...and the way the Euro is killing the dollar, who knows? It could be astronomical and I would be aggravated...

I''ve noticed that if you go to the Hermes stores at Madison Ave in NYC or Wall Street in NYC, you have a good chance of getting a Birkin or HAC immediately. I was in the Madison Avenue store around Christmas time, and they had several Birkins on display that weren''t promised to anyone. The Hermes store at King of Prussia has more Bolides and Constances than the Madison Avenue store.

In all my years shopping there I have not seen that there. They get them in, call the list people, and if you do not answer or call back quickly you likely miss out, they are on to the next person. In London, St. Barths and Rome I saw them out, got my small brown Kelly in Rome and it was on the shelf. But my other two bags I was on lists for. And I was told that while sometimes you can luck out and come in and one has just arrived, they tend not to just be out on the shelves. My hobo bag, which Jackie Kennedy used to wear, one was in the store in K of P and one in the store in Rome. Those were just out on the shelf. Also, Birkins are even harder to get than the Kelly, in certain sizes and leather/metal combos.

Diamondfan, I believe the Wall Street H store opened fairly recently, and I''m guessing that they put the Birkins out on display to attract customers because the store is new. (A lot of regular H customers turn down Birkins when they''re offered if the timing isn''t right or if they don''t like the material or the color.) I''ve seen several exotic Kellys (ostrich, croc, lizard) on display at the King of Prussia store.

Called the Hermes store today. A regular, non exotic leather Birkin is 8300.00. The price just went up from a mere 7500.00 recently! OMG that is pretty crazy. She also told me they are still fulfilling bags from the people waiting since 2005. When I got my first Kelly it was about 5500.00, which was maybe 2004. Talk about inflation.
