Dear all PS members-

I recently had a mishap with my engagement ring (still a seriously sore issue) and as a result had to file a claim with my insurance carrier, Chubb. I cannot compliment their service enough! I spoke with the intake rep at 9:30 this morning, and the claims adjuster called me at noon and asked for some details. She told me that she needed to clear everything with her manager and it would likely take at least a few days. At 2:30 today, she called to tell me my claim had been approved, she was sending out a check for the full amount, and that I would receive it in 3-5 business days. In less than 1 business day EVERYTHING was done. Sure, their premiums are a little higher, but I am so happy I went with them at the suggestion of the people on this wonderful board. And honestly, you cannot pay for that kind of peace of mind!

If you have any doubt as to who to go with, Chubb is the ONLY way to go.

Way to go Chubb!

I''m ashamed to say...

I took it off so I could cut up some messy fruit, and I think when I cleaned off the cutting board it went into the trash. I didn''t notice the ring was missing until 2 days later since I didn''t leave the apartment for a few days. By then, the trash had already gone out.

Ironically, that same week, TWO of our favorite sitcoms featured episodes about digging through a dumpster looking for an engagement ring. TORTURE!

What are the odds?!

OMG...that''s terrible!!! So, Chubb just asked you what happenned, you told them, and that was it? That''s great that the process was so easy!
What are you going to get now to replace your e-ring?

I just did an online inquiry with Chubb and they told me they don''t pay out $ to the insured. They will pay a jeweler of your choice for replacement? Maybe I''m misunderstanding and you can get a quote from the local (or online) jeweler and then they will pay you? I''m going to try to talk to a local broker who sells Chubb and learn more.

What you just said is true of Jeweler''s Mutual. Chubb does the payout to the customer.

I am so sorry to hear about your ring, but it is great you had good insurance! Will you get the same ring redone or do you have something new in mind? (My advice a little too late is to have a ring box in your bedroom or bathroom, and never take your ring off anywhere unless it goes directly in that box.)

OK....the group I work for has a relationship with a broker who sells Chubb. I''m going to try to get more info from them. Thank you.

The unfortunate thing is I do have a ring box in both the bedroom & the bathroom, and typically am VERY anal about where I put down the ring. I suppose I need to get one for the kitchen as well!

As for a new ring, the event is still a little fresh in my mind, and I''m still feeling pretty bad so I''ve "grounded" myself for a month until I''m allowed to start thinking about what to do.

I am so sorry to hear about your ring, that's so sad

Especially since everyone on this board works so hard to find their perfect ring, I am sure you are no exception.

I am glad you posted your experience with Chubb. I am in the process of trying to decide who to get insurance through. I am ialso n the process of upgrading, so it is more important now to have insurance, than previously. I still have insurance as a rider on our HO, but the more I read, the more I am leaning towards using Chubb and cancelling the rider for the upgrade.

Thanks your post was helpful (although sad, so sorry again for you and your poor ring)
