My ring arrived today!
Original thread about setting my stone:
Thread 'Help me with my setting for my old mine'
GIA diamond stats:
3.60 ct
VVS2
U/V color
9.25x8.77x 6.73
Setting:
Crafted by DK
950 RU platinum
18k yellow gold
22 G color VS single cut diamonds
2.5 mm shank (cast)
Size 5.25
Thank you to everyone who helped me through this process. When I first saw the stone I knew I wanted it right away. It was everything I love in an old cut: super warm, crisp pinwheel facet pattern, and major kozibe effect. Unfortunately planning the setting didn’t come as easily as finding the diamond. I’m a very indecisive person and I have so many ideas that I struggle to reel it in and make a decision. I really appreciate all of the guidance that I received when dreaming up this setting. I’m very pleased with how it turned out! The shank width is perfect! Thank you to those who suggested I go with 2.5mm. I appreciate @Cerulean for helping me make a decision by sharing the details of your stunning ring. I haven’t measured what it officially came out to but I’m happy with the finished shank width. The single cut melee is absolutely perfect! Thank you to @Karl_K for that recommendation. I decided to go with two tone for this piece because I LOVE the heft of platinum and the way it wears but I prefer the color of yellow gold. I wanted to embrace the warmth of my center stone with the yellow gold and create contrast against the white melee and platinum. I had originally planned on not adding milgrain so I was very surprised when I received a video of the finished piece with milgrain! Looking back, I completely understand how the miscommunication happened (one of my inspiration pictures had milgrain). Anyways, the miscommunication was meant to be because I absolutely love the milgrain. It’s delicate and well executed and just the absolute icing on this perfect cake!
I’ll be adding a ridiculous amount of pictures.
