My BF took these pics- this is Lucky

Oh IloveAsschers, Lucky is so beautiful..and looks like Francesca!!!

missy-I am so glad you rescued Tommy! What a terrible life for him! I would have done exactly the same thing! How is it having 4 kitties? I always think about getting another rescue kitty but I wonder if 4 would be too many? But lots of people have 4 and they (the people and the kitties!) seem to do just fine. I just can''t decide!

Hi Thing2, I was worried about this (as was my dh) but truthfully it is not any extra work at all. We have 3 litter boxes that we clean once a day and it is enough and mealtimes is just one extra dish. So, it isn''t a pain at all. I will say that now it seems they are shedding more (warmer weather maybe?) so I vacuum a bit more but it is no biggie. We have the best new cordless vacuum (platinum something) from Costco that is so easy and light and it takes 10 min to do all 2500 sq feet of the apt so easy as pie!

I totally recommend you saving another kitty if your dh is on board

All that extra love is so worth it!

You are right!! When we got them, the vet said wow, if she grows into her ears, she will be huge! Well, she didn''t haha but her ears are still huge. She is definitely part Siamese though- almond eyes and she talks ALLLLLLL the time. You can meow at her and have a meowing conversation with her for 10 min. (I realize that is a funny picture, me and her meowing at each other)

I don''t think my cats are very spoiled though- just with LOVE. They have their favorite toys/treats and don''t really appreciate anything after that so we don''t buy them much. I will say we stopped the diet food when Louie refused to eat it though

On the multiple kittehs...

I would LOVE to have more than the two that I have, but both of mine are getting older, and I''m starting to realize how much veterinary care older cats need! One has diabetes, which can get expensive, and the other just had an abnormal growth that we had to have removed. If it''s not one, it''s the other.I want another cat, because another dish, more litter, and more frequent vacuuming is no big deal, but what if 3 cats get sick at once? Yeesh!

This picture shows you how big Louie really is. I am not small by any means, but he is a BIG BOY. And he lets you hold him like a baby

Elle, I totally know what you mean about the sick/cat thing. When we got Louie and Lucky, it seemed to be one thing after another- upper respiratory infection, the flu, a bump on Louie, Lucky with a rash on her head... it never ends. Now my cats are young, but they have had THAT much stuff wrong, I can''t imagine when they are older!!!

All these kitty pictures and stories really, really make me missing having one.

That's a good point and very true Elle. Sadly the cost can be up there and that's with my sister being a vet! Once we had to take Bobby in to an emergency 24/7 vet clinic (it was New Year's Day- everything was closed) and it ended up costing a lot
23.gif
But I guess I rationalize the cost since they are members of the family but it can get expensive. Billy was a diabetic for over the last 6 years of his life and we had to give him insulin twice a day. The stuff is not cheap but we just loved him so much I would have spent whatever we had to.
Also, you can get cat health insurance (dog too) for any new cats so the cost will be more manageable. That's something we may consider if my sister ever stops practicing.

Elhrowen, your bunny is just precious! So adorable!

OK here is Billy in my parent's freezer...we turned around for a minute as my mom was preparing something and she left the freezer door open and next thing we know...coldcat

IloveAsschers, this photo is for you. Billy was a big boy too just like Louie and also loved to be held like a baby LOL
This was at my sister's house when he was getting his blood checked to see if his diabetes was well controlled.
He was always such a good boy. Even when getting blood taken through his almost all collapsed veins.

Manny''s so cute Haven!!

Haven-Olivia wanted me to tell you thank you!
1.gif
(She''s watching me from the back of the couch as I type!) I bet she would actually be a good cat model-she''s fearless and loves to hang out when I have get togethers with my friends, no matter how loud we get!

elro-Otto is adorable!!! A good friend of mine has 3 bunnies and she always brings them over to hang out and to hop in my yard. (She doesn''t have one.) Olivia is very interested in them, Charles is indifferent and Ophelia is scared of them! Her one bunny was actually chasing Ophelia a few nights ago!

missy-good to know about the 4 vs. 3 kitties. My house is 1500 square feet and I do wonder if that would be enough space for them all. My cats always seem to find me, so I guess if another cat finds me I''ll have to take him/her in! And OMG Billy is adorable in the freezer and showing off that big belly! For some reason big boy kitties are always the snuggliest. Don''t get me wrong-I love my ladies, but my big boy kitties have always been total snugglers!

elle-good point about the vet...it adds up quickly, although (*knock on wood*) mine have been pretty healthy so far. But even the Advantage flea stuff gets expensive when you multiply it by 3!

ILA-LOVE Louie! I had a big boy named Oscar (RIP) who was such a big snuggle bug! And Charles is, too, although he prefers to lay next to you/on top of you/whichever way he can hog the most room instead of be held.

Haven-just saw the Manny collage! He is so funny! I always love pictures of kitties while they''re meowing or yawning or sticking their tongues out!

And I meant to tell you that your boy with the white feet reminds me of my kitty Oscar. Oscar was the sweetest, snuggliest boy in the world and I still miss him!

OH MY GOSH THIS IS HILARIOUS. Me and my bf LOVE when Louie sits like this and let''s all his junk (so to speak) hang out!!! Missy- oh what a good kitty! Louie and Lucky HATE the vet and are not their normal personalities when we go. That''s so precious.

Haven, I love that you covered Monty for modesty. LOL, kitteh ****!

If I went through all the things my kitties do to drive me batty, I''d be at it all day. So I''ll just share the latest tidbit, from when BF and I were gone on vacation.

So about 3 days ago, while in Costa Rica, I get an e-mail from our cat sitter. Here it is:

"So last night there was a little incident with the cats. Somehow they got into your freezer and dragged almost everything out. I cleaned it up as much as I could - vacuumed the carpet and cleaned the kitchen floor. I''m not sure why they got into the freezer, they still had plenty of dry food and they didn''t seem to be anxious about anything when I left the night before."

Against my better judgment, I asked what the damage was. Response:

"The mess was pretty bad...they had pulled almost everything out - chicken breast/tater tots/ice cream! I vacuumed your carpet but you may want to get it steam cleaned because they had pulled the chicken breast all the way to the couch!

Also, I noticed yesterday when I saw them that they had knocked down one of your photos - the one by the desk it looks like you and your parents. The picture is fine but it looks like they chewed on the back of it a little."

I got home. My freezer is a MESS. Pieces of broken glass on the frame. Frame broken in half. Disaster. I spent the next hour as soon as I got home cleaning and then bathing the kitties.

Ha, BEG, I knew you''d have some things to add! Naughty kitties!

Bowden "cooling off" after an intense play session...typical.

Hi fsu,
I love your dogs
30.gif

So precious. I have been telling my dh that I want frenchies or boston terriers when we are closer to retirement (and therefore home a bit more). They are my favorite type of dogs. Such a sweet disposition. I grew up with boxers (and in fact my sister and my parents both have boxers still) and these dogs remind me of mini boxers

Thanks so much for sharing photos of your adorable dogs!!

I dont have any pictures because I am at work, but figured I would chime in and talk about my kitties

Kitty-runty, dumb, scared of the washer, the heater vent, the dhiswasher, sneezes, cars/trucks, breezes. EVERYTHING. She is one of those cats that has never lost her suckle instinct. She wants to be on me every second that she can. She is either screaming to be pet because she can see your hands. If you sit on your hands she forgets that you have them and she will start the kneading drooling thing. I let her because it makes her happy, but DH thinks she is weird. She also knows that sound of my car and will cry loudly until I come in the house. Then she continues to cry loudly until I pick her up and pet her. If she continues to cry that means that they have an empty food bowl. DH thinks it is hilarious that I know when the bowl is empty before I even get to that end of the house. Kitty is good. She doesnt do anything she isnt supposed to do. She does make me laugh because sometimes, for no reason at all she will steak through the house at top speed and run from one end to the other.

Pete-IS NAUGHTY. When he was a kitten he would hiss at DH for getting in the bed, he has gotten older and a little more calm. He is still a touch-me-not. You are not allowed to pet him unless he invites himself onto your lap. Usually while you are busy. He likes to get on DHs desk. DH hates this and arranged his stuff one day in a manner that he thought would deter him. DH came home to find Pete on his desk with his trickery on the floor. Pete has gas and will relieve himself whenever he wants. He has no manners. One night DH and I were laying in bed and Pete decided he wanted to be between us and under the covers. All of a sudden he was frantic to get out. Once he made it out we smelled it. He had passed gas under there and couldnt stand his own stink! He sleeps in laundry baskets and loves boxes. He doesnt know that he is huge and will try his best to get in a tiny box. He also spent 10 minutes one day trying to figure out how to position himself on top of our remote control. The worst thing about him is he frisky. As in wants to play using teeth and nails. He will snag your clothing with his paw as you walk by and then when you try to free yourself he lays into you. He grabs with front paws, bites and then kicks at you with his back feet like he is trying to get away while holding you there with his front paws.

Neither eat things that he shouldnt although Pete has been known to eat string. They are both slobs and always have tiny morsels spread out over 4 ft around their food bowl. Pete likes peas and Kitty likes ranch dressing. The do get on the counters. When we make bacon we pour the grease into a little glass dessert dish for it to cool. That seems to be their favorite! We will come back and it has clear tongue marks and sometimes they have even eaten a good bit of it.
