I couldn't agree more. Before this autumn we only ever had 2-3 cats but after Billy died I felt the need to save more lives to honor Billy's life and fortunately my dh slowly came around to my point of view.

Before this though I used to think people who had more than 2 or 3 were a bit crazy but now I see how easy it is to keep wanting more and I agree with you...I wish we could have 20 if it wasn't unhealthy for the cats and for us!! They are each so special and amazing and different!


They all have special stories and all had difficult lives before we adopted them. The last one (Tommy)was a "mouser" at one of my jobs and he was kept in a dark and filthy and cold basement (early winter) and it broke my heart when I found out. At that point I began visiting him with my dh every weekend and I slowly worked on the superintendent of the bldg to allow me to get him tested for FIV and AIDS and then finally to allow me to adopt him. He was very resistant as the bldg was overrun with mice before Tommy and the owner of the bldg had instructed the super to get a cat. I gave the super all this literature on better ways to capture and rid a bldg of mice and though he said they tried all those other methods he finally gave in to my gentle beggings
I made him promise not to replace Tommy with another cat and so far so good.
Sorry, I tend to go on and on when it comes to the kitties

I will say Tommy is a tough little cat and we will not have any mice in our apt ever while he is here LOL

Haven-I LOVE the pictures of your kitties sleeping in weird places! So funny when they do stuff like that! And your story (and accompanying photos) had me laughing out loud-I guess I missed that the first time around but I''m glad I got to see it now!

portia-um it''s a good thing our kitties don''t hang out! (Your girl is GORGEOUS, too!) Olivia actually HAS eaten my homework, too! (Well my notes, at least!) I went to my statistics professor''s office hours a couple of weeks ago and was asking him a question and showing him my notes and he was like ''Uh what happened to those?'' Hahaha! She loves to bite paper and boxes and then tear them. She pulls her head back as hard as she can and just rips them! And Olivia also eats flowers! EVERY time I get flowers I have to put them up high so she can''t reach them, and then I forget about them and don''t get to enjoy them! Thank God I only have 1 super naughty cat...if I had more than one and they teamed up I would cry.

sunnyd-WOW. Dewey might be even naughtier than Olivia! My other kitty Ophelia messes up the blinds to look out the window but (*knock on wood*) she can''t break them because they''re the thicker custom kind. And Olivia used to scratch up my old couch but when I shelled out for the new one I got super vigilant and she''s pretty good about it now. She still insists on dragging herself along the bottom of the couch using her claws on occasion, though. And doesn''t care when I shout at her at the top of my lungs! Tell Dewey to stop corrupting Trooper!

HH-ha, love your French man description of Murphy! And Olivia is like your Binks and she also loves to bite sticky things-she must love how the adhesive tastes. I''m sure that''s good for them! Um I would DIE if one of my cats tried to use the toilet! HILARIOUS! (Poor fella, though!) And Olivia used to try to suckle on my eyelids and hands! I got her from randos when she was super young so I''m definitely her mommy, too!

missy-your babies are ADORABLE! (And there is no such thing as too many pictures of kitties-you''re not threadjacking at all!) I LOVE all the pictures, especially the one of Frankie in the blinds! HAHAHA that is amazing! I would freak out if my cats did that to ours-it''s bad enough the have to mess them up by opening them to look outside! I also love the one of Fred in the car-so funny! I love cats so much-they all have such funny personalities!

OMG, Olivia and Zoe must be long lost cousins! Zoe loves to tear/eat paper and cardboard boxes. She''s a live paper shredder! That is hysterical that Olivia ate your notes. She''s so cute though... how can you ever get angry with her, ya know? Zoe has eaten a plastic leaf off a fake tree we *used* to have. She also eats small pebbles, fuzzies from the carpet and salt packets from carry out food. And apparently I found out today she like elastic hair bands as well. I''m waiting for the day she tries to eat a pepper packet! LOL

I L-O-V-E all the darling kitties in this thread! So cute. Thing, Olivia and Ophelia look like quite the pair. I''m sadly very allergic to cats, so I have to admire other people''s kitties, but if I could have some, I would want them to be as mischievous and entertaining as yours are

My parents have a sweet little rescue doggie (spaniel-poodle-dachshund mix, we think) who is always, always hungry. The amount of food this 18-pound animal can put away is astounding, and he has the stomach of a goat. We were terrified one day when he went into my little brother''s backpack and ate a generously-sized baggie of Chips Ahoy, but he seemed to have no problems at all with it. Phew. After that, he learned that good things come in Ziploc baggies and started tearing them open whenever he could gain access to them. He managed to eat some Grasshopper cookies and a bunch of beef jerky before my mom figured out what he was doing. He can open Tupperware containers and cabinet doors somehow, too, so he has gotten at his treats a number of times that way. As soon as my mom tries to outsmart him, he finds a new way to get to some delicious eats. We can''t get mad at him because the little guy is so darn adorable (and hungry!).

I would have done exactly the same thing! How is it having 4 kitties? I always think about getting another rescue kitty but I wonder if 4 would be too many? But lots of people have 4 and they (the people and the kitties!) seem to do just fine. I just can''t decide!

And they totally are, portia! Luckily Olivia sticks to eating leaves, plants and bugs mostly. (Also my cereal and yogurt on occasion.) I don''t think she eats the paper-just tears it up! Ophelia is obsessed with rubber bands and hair bands, though. When we got rid of an area rug last year there were seriously 20 or so hair bands under it! No wonder I could never find one when I needed one!

Let's see:

-If the water is low or the food is less than 2/3 full (oh the horror, not a full bowl!!) Louie yelps like he is dying TILL WE FILL IT.
-I can't walk out of the room in the morning without having one (or two) cats running under my legs and then yelling at my when I step on them.
-Lucky likes to believe that my clothes are toys, especially when I am putting them away and I can't hang them up without her claws getting stuck in at least 75% of them.
-Louie likes to take up ALL MY LEG SPACE during the night so then I get shafted. All 14 pounds of the kitty gets about 1/2 the leg space.
-Lucky will ONLY sleep ON ME. Very comfortable for her (she only weighs 7 lbs) but not for me and my back!
-Louie LOVES to spill glasses of water. Or glasses of ANYTHING. We have definitely learned to not leave them out.
-Toilet bowl water is SO yummy, huh?
-Got another fan of paper bags/box eaters.
-Fighting is really fun and funny to watch, just not while it's ON ME. Oh yea, claw my leg please.
-My bra strap is NOT a string toy for you two

ETA: how could I forget- to Louie, food must taste way better when it's strategically taken out with his paws onto the carpet/food mat and then eaten, with his mouth wide open. It's so messy over there!!!

This is my new favorite thread!

Everyone''s kitties are so gorgeous and hilarious.

I was looking through our pictures to find evidence of my boys'' bad behavior, and I realized that nearly all of our hundreds of pictures of the animals are of them SLEEPING! It''s ridiculous, really, but they''re so darn cute when they smoosh together to sleep that I just can''t help it.

Our boys really are bad, though.
- Manny routinely knocks all the books off of my nightstand in the mornings when he''s hungry and we''re not awake early enough to feed him.
- Geddy screams his tiny little head off every morning starting at about 6:15. We call him the "Spokesman" because he decides when everyone''s hungry and then demands food immediately.
- They all chew anything that is plastic and small enough to fit into their eager little mouths. We have to hide computer cords when we''re not home or they''ll chew them up beyond repair.
- Vince is obsessed with milk and he runs into the kitchen whenever he hears me pull the gallon out of the door. He then persists in trying to stick his little face into whatever vessel I''ve transferred some milk. This is why I now drink milk out of coffee mugs at home, the little bugger is relentless.
- All three of the boys play leapfrog over the dog. They run up alongside her as she''s walking through the house and then leap right over her. It''s hilarious, and they must coordinate it because all of a sudden all three of them are leaping over the poor confused pup.
- This isn''t bad, but hilarious: Our house is shaped like a big rectangle, with a wall in the middle dividing our sleeping and living areas, so you can walk around the center of the house. Well, whenever DH is preparing the cats'' meals (they eat three times a day) all of the boys take laps around the house until their food is ready. Vince and Geddy take their laps at a quick trot, while Manny takes his time and ambles quite leisurely. They remind me of the little old men who walk laps around the mall.
- Geddy would steal his brothers'' food if we didn''t hold him back. He darts into their food bowls while their eating and he moves so quickly that we often don''t get to him in time.
- Vince loves french fries, and he''ll steal them right off our plates if we''re not careful.

I don''t have any good action shots, but I have some fun sleeping shots to share. Bailee (the dog) regularly uses Manny as her pillow. Vince likes to sleep sprawled over the back of the sofa, and the boys are little sunbathers so they''ll often throw themselves down in whatever patch of sun they can find.

The cats groom each other every day, but for whatever reason the grooming sessions usually end with Manny biting someone, which is what we got a shot of in the right picture. ILA-your kitties are adorable! (And your list is lengthy!

) I love the one of them in the Ikea tent! Mine ignored the Ikea tenty thing I got them! Why lay in a cute container when you can lay in a torn up cardboard box that looks horrible on my living room floor?
Mine are bed hogs too, although the worst is Charles. He's big like Louie-he's around 12 pounds. I wake up every morning in contorted positions because he's hogging the bed! And Olivia also likes to sleep between my legs. So I'll have Charles next to me, Olivia in between/on my legs, and Ophelia at my feet! It makes me feel popular though!

Haven-EEEEEEEE I love the new pictures! And your list is HILARIOUS. I think my favorite is the image of all 3 kitties jumping over poor Bailee. I'm picturing this choreographed dance...like a hair braid. One over the other over the other! (You know what I'm trying to say!) And I have SO many of my pics are of them sleeping, too! They always sleep in cute positions, or right next to each other, and I can't stop taking pictures of them! And bratty Olivia sounds just like Geddy with the food stealing! She's so bad that if she even hears one of them go into the kitchen to nibble on the dry food she sprints in and eats out of whatever bowl they're eating out of. (There are 3 bowls, of course!) Charles and Ophelia just deal with it and switch bowls...poor beaten down kitties! Nevermind the fact that Charles is literally twice as big as Olivia and Ophelia is probably 3 or 4 pounds heavier than her.

This is also my new favorite thread! I love reading about and seeing everyone's cats so much! I know I'm a crazy cat lady and I don't care-my PS cat lovers make me feel understood!

Hi Thing2, I was worried about this (as was my dh) but truthfully it is not any extra work at all. We have 3 litter boxes that we clean once a day and it is enough and mealtimes is just one extra dish. So, it isn''t a pain at all. I will say that now it seems they are shedding more (warmer weather maybe?) so I vacuum a bit more but it is no biggie. We have the best new cordless vacuum (platinum something) from Costco that is so easy and light and it takes 10 min to do all 2500 sq feet of the apt so easy as pie!
I totally recommend you saving another kitty if your dh is on board

All that extra love is so worth it!

The princess of the world woke me up last night at 1:30. I thought (maybe she is thirsty) and took her to the water bowl. She looked at me like I was stupid. So I, all bleary eyed, hooked her into her harness... she doot dooted out the door, and proceeded to sniff for 10 minutes. I finally got fed up and took her back in. Got upstairs and she doot dooted to the side of OUR bed... looked at me "well... aren''t you going to put me up there now?". I was too mad. I made her get on her pillow in the blanky bed. Went back to sleep.


This morning, the princess of the world taunted the other pup by putting her treats between them... then growling if he got too close. I yelled, she ate them.

I didn''t get pictures of the princess of the world last night due to a long photoshoot I helped out with for a bride.

My bunny just likes to steal magazines. I usually keep the current issues of magazines I read on the coffee table ledge, and he sneaks over and grabs them to chew on them. I tell him no, and he runs away, then returns on a different side of the table where I can''t see him

Oh, and he keeps sneaking behind his cage and chewing on the mat under the cage (it''s like a vinyl tablecloth thing). He won''t leave it alone! I keep chasing him out and he keeps running back.

I should've taken a picture last night. I came out of the kitchen to see that he had pulled a whole Wine Spectator out into the middle of the living room. Haha. The magazine is bigger than him!
