Hello Ladies! A while ago in the under 1 ct thread I posted about a beautiful ring I inherited from FIL. It belonged to his late wife who I never got chance to meet. The diamond itself is a modest .9cts, 6mm, HI color and I1 clarity. It's not a perfect stone but because it is cut so well it sparkles like mad and has tons of fire and personality.

The old setting was just a classic but very worn out 6 prong Tiffany styled setting.

I am so happy with the results of the new setting! This is is a size 3.5 ArtCarved Imani in 14k white gold with 2 pts of surprise diamonds on either side.

What surprised me is that stone seems to have gotten bigger in its new setting :) Yay! amazing what a new setting can do. I just love the sentiment behind the stone and am glad we could give it a new life.

Your new setting is GORGEOUS! The ring looks amazing and big on your hand - it certainly looks like that hand is going to dig deep into Differential Topology any second now!!!

The original setting is identical to my original setting. Nothing wrong with a classic setting, for sure.

But your reset is gorgeous!

LOL, I've been outed. Yes, yes indeed. This belongs to the hand of a mathematician....

Indeed KaeKae. Classic settings are classic for a reason. If mine were in better shape I have even kept it in there especially since it was super comfortable, but it was pretty banged up.

So now I'm all like...do I buy a new wedding band? It actually matches my grandmother's platinum band fairly well, but hers is platinum and mine is white gold. You can see a difference in color. There is an Artcarved Imani matching band, but then it's almost too matchy matchy....maybe an eternity band?

Oh wow your new setting is beautiful! I love the knife edge and engraving. The stone does look bigger
I like it paired with your Grandma's band, or you could pair it with a diamond band, that would look lovely too. Congratulations on your lovely reset!!

I was thinking of a thin diamond eternity or maybe diamond-ruby eternity band, actually :)

Personally I love it with your grandmother's play band! I often wear plat and WG together. I think the color difference is subtle, but only you can decide if you're ok with it or not.

Thank you so much ladies. I love it more and more each day and I think I am just going to wear it with my grandma's wedding band. From a distance the two metals don't look that different and I like the idea of two family items together. :)
