My next project is to make a Mother's Ring for myself. I have the band which was once owned by ccuheartnurse. I also purchased her engagement ring setting, but my jeweler "lost" it along with my 1.54 ct diamond. I'm still awaiting a suitable replacement stone, but that's another thread in the diamond forum. In the meantime I'm turning my attention to the band. It's platinum, size 6, and formerly held three diamonds that were about 3.8 to no more than 4mm each. My son was born in October, and my daughters were born in February (twins on Leap Year Day). So my choices are amethysts for the sides and either opal or tourmaline for the center stone. I haven't contacted any cutters, but I'm thinking that the stones will most likely need to be custom cut.

I'm thinking about two Rose de France amethysts and a cuprian tourmaline since it'll be pretty small and more affordable. This may be my only chance to get one.

Any suggestions?

A nice turquoise cuprian tourmaline, and some medium-dark purple amethysts would make for a nice contrast across the band. I think rose de France amethysts (pale purple) would get lost next to the diamonds and cuprian tourmaline
