Most interesting thing you’ve ever found...

We found a toddler once. My husband heard a sound in the woods next to our old house around 6:00a while we were all getting ready for school/work and went to check on it. Of course the kids went along out to the yard to see what it might be. My daughter flew into the house yelling “come quick, dad found a baby!” There was a toddler in a shirt and diaper holding a dog leash, and my husband was afraid a strange man might scare her. He kept an eye on her from a distance and sent the kids in to get me. Thankfully, she came right to me when I said I was a mommy and I would help her find hers.

She told us which house was hers and there was a dog sitting on the front porch. We knocked and rang and yelled and no one ever came, so we went back to our house and called the police. I will never forget the dispatcher stuttering and asking me to repeat myself when I said we found a toddler. We wrapped her up in a blanket and plopped her on the couch with our kids until the police came.

Her mom was at work, the aunt who was home with her was still asleep, and all we can guess is that she tried to walk the dog and the dog got away from her. It was a crazy morning, to say the least! My kids still talk about being late to school one day because dad found a baby.

That reminds me that the same thing happened to me! We have neighbors who just let their kids wander the street. I saw a 1 year old in diapers walking towards my house, in the middle of the street and when I took him back to his house, 3 year old brother was climbing and playing in their SUV. Apparently mom was napping and dad just left them in the garage while he sent out back for a little pot break (that's what I'm guessing). The kids could've been killed!
