I just have a frustration to share.
I went to a "maul" store yesterday just to get an idea of my carat preference. I''m in love with both asschers and radiants, so of course I asked if they carried either or both... the salesman obviously had no CLUE what an asscher was, but said they have one radiant, and pulled it out for me. It was not a radiant, I told him, but a princess cut. He said "Yes, they are the same cut, radiants are just slightly elongated." umm....
Then, I spotted an square emerald (!) in the display case, and asked to see it. He said "oh, no, that is also a princess cut." At this point my brain was running out of the store, lol. He just thought anything square was a princess.
Also, the biggest size they carried was a .70ct.
Anyone know of somewhere in the Los Angeles area where I can go to find someone who actually knows the difference between an asscher, radiant and princess? And hopefully who will let me try on stones without giving me the evil eye when I don''t buy? (ahem, jewelry district)
