HI, I think that getting a temporary setting is just fine!
I do love both rings you posted though and would say that I absolutely love the Durnell ring, but maybe with less pave on the prongs. But, I love the simplicity and elegance of the Sholdt ring as well.

Right now I am thinking about what I would get as a reset as well and I love the Durnell split shank. It reminds me of the Daniel K ring that I love.

By the way, do you think they are all related? Daniel K, Natalie K, Beverly K, SImon G (okay, not a K, but still,...LOL!).
LOL! Too funny!

Are you resetting your diamond Butterfly? Was the Harmonsy setting temporary or do you just feel like a change?

I am thinking of a reset, but not right now since I am getting the five stone band, which BTW, I should be receiving tomorrow, so get ready for pictures, lol.
The Harmony was a temporary forever setting. I bought it because I love it and I got it for a good price, but I have always wanted either a cushion shaped halo pave setting or something like the Daniel K ring.
I didn''t want to spend the money if the stone was not going to be my forever stone, but now that I know this is it, I would like to get a permanent setting. It is a lot of money to spend on a setting only to change the setting when you change the diamond, KWIM.
I was actually going to reset this time, but since I couldn''t decide what I wanted to get, I decided to just get the 5 stone band instead.
My husband told me that I could reset again, but I would have to wait a while, so I have time to decide what I want in the meantime. Everything looks so good though.

Oh I was so ridiculous in this whole process

Honestly, Lesley is a saint. I *literally* changed my mind about buying this diamond about 6 times in the last week! I was going to do nothing, then the three stone, then the next night I was back to the solitaire and then the three stone again the next morning. I lost sleep over this decision! Lesley very smartly took to basically waiting until I called to do anything because she knew I would change my mind again

Smart lady.

Honestly, spending money is so hard for me. You should have seen us when we bought our house!

If you can believe it, I am actually worried about this diamond being too big

Jill actually had the same setting, same color and size, and the same finger size, so it gave me a pretty good idea what this new rock will look like!

DD - I think you''re making a great decision and I''m so happy that my old thread was helpful to you!

I think you''ll be really happy with the bigger diamond, and the practical part of you will be happy that you didn''t waste too much money on a temp setting. When I got my 1.63, I had blown my budget on the diamond and I didn''t want to waste money on the setting. Now, I''m so glad that I didn''t spend any more than $250! I splurged on the legato setting when I upgraded to the 1.97, because I was pretty sure I would be hanging on to that stone a little longer. I ended up with my 2.40 a lot sooner than I expected (thanks to an insurance replacement on my original ering). Now I''m finally hunting for my forever setting, because I won''t be upgrading the 2.40 anytime soon...and you may have unknowingly encouraged me to go for a three stone!

As for the size difference, my original ering was a 1.37 that was cut deep, it measured about 7mm. When I went to my 1.63, it was a jump to 7.65mm. I could definitely tell a big difference. I think a basic setting to help you get used to the new diamond is a great idea. That 6-prong tiffany setting is really nice for a basic setting. Honestly, I think it looks nicer than most stock settings you see. I was impressed with how nice it was considering the price point. And you''ll get to try out 6 prongs to see what you think.

I''m so happy for you! Can''t wait to see pics when it''s all finished!

Sorry Dreamer... I think the diamond is too big. Best return it.

NOT!!!!!!!

Yeeeeee, good for you. You will love it

I saw this in the "regrets" thread! I do *not* think the diamond is too big to halo woman. It would be spectacular. Have you tried on any rings with diamonds your size in halo settings?
