Hi all!
First time poster. Mom left me this beauty that she wore for over 25 years. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this piece. All I could gather was that it was from Mayor's jewelers. She i missing a little diamond but I think I can have that fixed easily. Google searches don't turn anything up. Any info would be of help. Thanks2.jpg 4.jpg 1.jpg

Hi, if a Google search isn’t showing any matches for a jeweller called “Mayors” they probably aren’t in business anymore or the name has changed.
Not uncommon.
Seeing as one diamond has been lost, I wouldn’t wear the ring until it’s been into a jeweller for inspection. More diamonds could be loose in their setting and you don’t want to lose any more. And it’s no trouble for a jeweller to find and set a replacement diamond.
Very pretty and a unique setting style.

Hi,
There is a Mayors jewelry chain in the US south - Florida and Georgia, I believe. I have visited one on Lincoln Rd, South Beach, Miami. The jewelry seems to be on par with many of the mall chains. Perhaps this is the same company that made your ring?

If this is in north America this would have been produced by Birks And Mayers, a high-end Canadian company, often referred to as the "Tiffany" of Canada as I believe their roots go back to aproximatly 1879 or so. Mayor's was a independent chain they operated in the US. They just sold their Mayor's devision a year back. The swan shape is typical of light-hearted animal, or insect figures in playfull14k items sold in that time period, I own a gordgous large akoya broach in the shape of a butterfly, the pearls make up the various body parts, the rest is a gold wire work frame, with Birks haulmarks from the early 1970's . https://www.diamonds.net/News/NewsItem.aspx?ArticleID=59220

Aw. It kind of looks like a sleeping duck in profile.

I think it’s a swan

Yes, I agree. I DO believe its a swan. Cocktail ring search with swan DID turn up some rather interesting results. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
