Are "modern" cushions referred to as cushion brilliants (I think) or cushion modified brilliiants? I watched the tutorial talking with Mark from Engagement rings direct but am unclear. Thanks.

Others may correct me if I''m wrong, but I was under the impression that there are so many types of cushions that certain cushions can be both "cushion brilliant" and "cushion modified brilliant."

Cind11, you may want to check out this thread for more information on cushions. Sure helped me a lot!

Thanks JenStone. I have read that thread. I did a search on cushions and read quite a bit. I did talk to Mark Turnowski this evening. I think he wasn''t even sure which type of cuhion people are referring to as a "modern" cushion. He did say his personal preference is cushion brilliants. He said they have more of an overall brilliance as opposed to the cushion modified brilliant. Still a bit confusing though.

They are both in the modern/old-cut cushion territory...

But some Antique old-cut cushions can fit into that territory too, depends on the design, cut and proportions of the cushion facets.

I hope you understand that Cushions is a VERY BROAD "SHAPE", means there are so many different variations of them that all the Labratories have a hard time identifying their faceting patterns, thats where they throw all unidentified Cushions into "MODIFIED" terms.
