Missy - thinking of you today.

Excellent news Missy! So very glad you guys have crossed this hurdle!!!

Here's to a speedy recovery and lots more ice cream!

Missy, I didn't know that this was happening until just now.
I'm so glad to see that things went well and wish Greg (and you) a smooth and speedy recovery.

Thinking of you both. Poor Greg!! So glad it went well.

Hoping for a quick and comfortable recovery for him!

I missed that this was happening, but glad it's over and DH is recovering!!

Sending you all the best!
xo

Glad everything went well!. Looks like he's ready to go biking!. Hoping for a speedy recovery...

Great news, @missy ! Sending healing vibes for a speedy recovery!!!

So surgeon came by. 2 stones still in kidney. Large. Surgeon did nothing to those. His words were “let sleeping dogs lie”.

So be it!

I was not a little worried that this ended up being more surgery than expected, until finally, finding this thread, uf! Good to hear you are back & all is as right as can be!

Here’s to a quick recovery! Glad the surgery went well.

Did not know he had surgery! glad it went well!

Hope his recovery is fast and as pain free as possible

Glad to hear Greg’s surgery went well and he is on the mend. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Yay Missy soo glad Greg sailed through the surgery! Now onto recovery. He knew you were right there waiting for him.

You guys are in my thoughts. It sounds like something was already done and hoping the two remaining stones will not cause a problem. Keep us posted please.

Hi Missy, I've been thinking of a way to broach this to you and your DH, but always felt awkward about how to do it. I have suffered from kidney stones for years. Huge ones. I've given birth more than once without an epidural after 12+ hour labors and kidney stone pain is worse. I had large stones laying in wait in my kidneys that would've had to have been removed by surgical extraction. I used to pass up to 10 or so larger stones a year.
I take something called Chanca Piedra everyday and have for several years and *depending on the particulate makeup* of his stones this could help. It works primarily by dissolving calcium and flushing uric acid from the body. This worked to dissolve the stones stuck in my actual kidneys and allowed the passage of the smaller stones without the same level of pain. I haven't had a stone pass in about two years, because there are none left to pass.
It isn't a fast cure, it takes weeks/months to dissolve larger stones. It has to be taken as a regular part of a daily regimen. It should be looked at as an adjunct. I just thought that as a fellow sufferer I would pass along what brought me relief as something you/he can bring up with his urologist.
* I'm so happy he feels better as I truly understand that particular pain. :)

Hi Missy and Greg
good to know Greg is good
hope all those stones are out now

@ItsMainelyYou your testimony is very interesting because when Gary had kidney stones the male doctor td him kidney stones can be more painful than childbirth but coming from you its more believable - ouch

the silly anesthesiologist might not be a good communicator but Greg did wake up so he did his job
Gary had a prostrate biopsy a while ago and it was going to be local but when he got in there he desided on being knocked out and the anesthesiologist came out to tell me what was going to happen

Get well soon Greg

Oreo says everything is going to be ok!

It sounds like everything went well. Cheers to being home together and having this behind you!

How is he doing tonight?

Good morning and thank you all for your good wishes. Greg is doing well. He passed a few remnants of the kidney stones so woohoo for that. He is in slight discomfort but nothing major so far. Hopefully his recovery will continue to go smoothly. We appreciate your support and good thoughts!

@missy Oh really glad to hear that! Was thinking about you both overnight! ((hugs))

@ItsMainelyYou thank you so much for sharing all that info with us. I am very sorry you suffered for so many years with kidney stones and relieved and pleased for you that you are finally rid of them (hopefully for ever). I shared everything you wrote with Greg and he will be asking his urologist about it. And if his urologist isn't helpful with the info we will pursue it further because of your amazing results. Greg has been suffering with stones for over 30 years now and we need to figure out why. Fortunately Greg now has some samples of the stones that passed since the procedure yesterday so we just have to bring it in and get it analyzed. Not sure when/how so we have to speak to his urologist since that got lost in the mix yesterday of what to do with the stone particles that do pass.

And as far as being super painful when they are trying to pass yeah I have seen that with Greg. His pain tolerance is very high and I have seen him vomit from the pain of kidney stones. Twice we had to rush to the ER because his pain level was a 10 and none of the IV meds they gave him provided relief til finally the last one did. I mean it was scary in December the last time we had to go to the ER due to the kidney stone pain.

Thank you again for sharing this. We so appreciate it!

@Begonia so far so good. Greg had a decent night's sleep and is feeling OK this AM. Just a bit of discomfort that is all. No pain meds were taken yet so yay for not needing them and hoping that continues. XO.

@Niffler75 thank you. (((Hugs))) to you.

Greg looks fantastic @missy! I hope you are both getting plenty of rest. Yay for no stent! Urology is my specialty and we tackle a lot of stones, and yes if they're not problematic, let 'em be! Hope you get a good fix of icecream soon

Thank you! And coming from you I know now ice cream is critical so will follow your orders! Thank you.

As a nurse I prescribe plenty of ice cream to aid recovery!

Haha given the amount of ice cream I eat I should never get ill. I’ll have to eat even more I guess.

I’m glad the procedure is over and I hope Greg has a speedy recovery. Take care @missy xx

I'm so happy to hear Greg's surgery is over and went smoothly! I hope he has a quick recovery. It really sucks that you had to deal surgery on top of everything else that is going on!
