I never realized there were so many variables in buying a diamond. I come from a very techy background where i am often trying to change several variables to come up w/ the best combination given certain constraints. I have to admit that i''m a bit overwhelmed, but this board has answered a ton of my questions.
My current thoughts right now:
Cut: Most important attribute. I am thinking of going w/ an AGS-0, or a GIA that will give me a 1 to 2 HCA score.
Clarity: VS2 seems to me to be the safest for an online purchase but possible SI1 if buying from a good vendor that will give a good and fair "eyeclean" opinion.
Color: H or maybe G. I''m concerned that I gets a little too yellow.
Carat: Biggest I can get given the above and my budget.
Floresence: Not a huge issue. ask if it produces a negative visual effect on the diamond.
Girdles: Worry about extremely thin, and/or feathers on the girdle.
Online Buying: Ask a lot of questions.
It seems to really be a treasure hunt to find a great diamond.
