Men's / Unisex prong-set MRB diamond solitaire ring designs?

Hello everyone, I'm looking for inspiration for a unisex / men's e-ring/wedding band, with a diamond solitaire as the center of attention. For the purposes of this thread, I'm looking for designs that meet the following criteria.
  1. MRB diamond solitaire style ring. It doesn't have to be a pure solitaire style, but I want the focus to clearly be on a primary MRB diamond. Halo's and sidestones are potentially OK. Pave on the band is ok, but there must be a clear standout primary solitaire, so eternity bands are out. Bonus points for designs without halo's or sidestones. :)
  2. Diamond solitaire must be prong set. More specifically, the diamond must be mounted in such a way that no part of the setting touches the diamond's arrows anywhere on the girdle and table. This rules out bezel set, tension set, flush, bar, and channel set.
  3. Overall style should be unisex or "men's". I am very flexible on how this is interpreted, but basically it mean's I'm not looking for a skinny ring. (At least I don't think I am, feel free to convince me I'm wrong.)
I'm guessing the solitaire would be somewhere between 0.5-1.0 ct, but feel free to convince me to go bigger. :). My ring size is ~8.5.

I've already gone through the Men's Bling Eyecandy Folder thread. There are a lot of great rings for inspiration there, but I didn't see too many designs that met Criteria 2 above. And, I think this forum deserves more than one sticky thread about different gender designs. :)

@Dancing Fire @pk888 @D&T @gregchang35

I can't wait to see what people come up with.

My best guess would be a 4 prong setting of some kind. I don't think you can avoid not covering any arrows on a 6 prong setting?

Thanks @Dancing Fire. Yes, I think you'd need a 4 (or 8).

I know that I posted about RMB, but the center stone may be a Decagon, which is actually 10 sided, so I'd most likely need a 5 prong setting.

Number of prongs aside, I'm really interested in overall ring design suggestions.

One idea I've been playing with is an adaption of @CHRISTY-DANIELLE beautiful DK Octagon ring, adapted to a decagon, and with a wider band.

Original

My pathetic attempt at a mock-up in Google Slides, using a decagon halo instead of an octagon, and with a wider, more unisex band.

Not sure if this would scale properly to a 0.5ct to 1.0 ct diamond though.

Again, really looking for inspiration, I figure their must be a lot of great designs out there I've missed.

So, what about a cut down collet setting? This is from a recent David Klass post. The band could easily be made wider. This style was unisex for a long time, historically. 34EAB9AA-7B59-47C3-8F45-82E8097F8C2D.jpeg

Hmmm thinking of what I currently have that can be used as inspiration

How about something like one of these...
I know some are not round in shape but that can be modified if you like the design and I have included two that are bezel set but are quite solitaire

The amethyst and emerald can be easily scaled and adapted to a men’s solitaire as well with clean lines

yOu like what you like. :) and there is nothing wrong with that.

It’s a tough journey, and one that can also be quite fun.

I prefer antique cuts- OEC. And have it in a vintage inspired setting.

Here is the thread I made of it.

I now have a size 9 finger.
The prongs are in the corner but being an oec, i dont have to worry about the arrows as such.

Hope this helps.

Ohh, thank you @caolsen . I wasn't familiar with the term "cut down collet". Very helpful.

@pk888 You have some many amazing rings! I'm really digging the vibe of an off-center diamond.

Thanks @gregchang35. The journey is part of the fun. I find that considering lots of options, while overwhelming at times, really helps me be confident about my choice when I finally find "the one".

I love the adaption @CutMonkey ! Here's my contribution to help get your creative juices flowing:

@CHRISTY-DANIELLE Awesome, thanks for all of those mash-ups!!! I love, love, love your octagon!

Not sure if any of these are your aesthetic, but I think these are sleek, modern and you'll be able to see the arrows on your diamond, without compromising the safety of having only 4 prongs because of how low they are set.

@jaysonsmom I like the aesthetic of those quite a bit! Where are those from?

I just recently saw a SimonG design at Whiteflash with a similar vibe that I think I like too.

I just googled Men's prong setting's and these 3 are all from a site called Diamondfactory.com.
I have never purchased anything from that site, or heard of that vendor, so I cannot speak on their products. I was just giving you some picture ideas so that you can work with your designer of choice!

This one is a ring I had designed a couple years ago. It's pretty simple, but I liked how low it sat on the finger and how androgynous it was :) I went with a matte finish rose gold band and polished white gold prongs. I'm going to attach a photo of it that my friend had taken on his hand (he said he wanted to steal it). It was a 0.72ct August Vintage Round from Jonathon/Rhino.

I left this one in the bathroom at work and nobody turned it in :(

Thanks @musicloveranthony! The hand shot really helps. I probably wouldn't have imagined that would work as an androgynous setting from the render, but it looks great on the hand!

I made a separate post about this in Diamond Hangout, but Tiffany's just announced a new line of engagement rings for men. Yay! Even though I don't think any meet my prong criteria.
