Hey ladies!
Okay, so I''m within a week of ordering either one of these rings and I need some advice! (Also - Pearlman''s gave me some information about Memoire rings that you might want to know....read on!)
First, Pearlman''s is ABSOLUTELY amazing to work with. I love Julian there, I would highly recommend him! What a great experience there. So much information, so friendly and warm. Signed Pieces is also great to work with...maybe they were rushed when I''ve spoken to them, but they always seem to hurry me off or give me just the minimum amount of information.
So the decision is between these two rings: (I already have the center stone - .90 F color, VS1)
1. Pétite Prong® Diamond Eternity Band, MIP1-1W, with round brilliant cut diamonds set in platinum. At 1.00ct the band is 2.2mm wide , has 26 diamonds at .040ct, and is 1.00ct total weight. I asked about diamond grades and they said this: "Yes there are six different diamond grades available. We only stock the M grade diamonds. These are G-H color SI clarity. I can tell you that they are very clear, fiery, well cut diamonds."
2. Facets Duo - Signed Pieces. The mounting has 26 shared-prong-set all the way around round brilliant cut diamonds. The diamonds are 0.93ct total weight and they are F-G color and VVS-VS clarity. The ring is 2.4mm wide and 1.9mm thick. (Platinum)
What do you all think? The Facets Duo is so so much cheaper than the Memoire. The Memoire would have the diamond mounted higher than the Facets Duo also...which I like. Has anyone ever had issues with the quality of the diamonds in the eternity bands for the M grade diamonds with a center stone that has less color to it? F for the center stone, G-H for the band from Memoire.
Some advice, please?
Alright, now onto the interesting stuff that Pearlman''s told me about Memoire rings! I was concerned about having to resize the ring at any point so I was going to go with a semi-mount until I heard this:
(I will quote Pearlman''s)
"Now here are some things about Memoire that you might not know. (I didn''t either until I called them
) They are very aware of customer concerns when buying full eternity sets. So, they have a couple of great options. One, you can purchase the band and then if you need it sized you can do what they call an unset/reset. It costs about $150-$200. Basically they remove all the diamonds from your band and re-set them in a new setting that is the size you would like. Memoire informs me that sizing these bands more than a 1/4 size is not a good idea, even if it is a 75% eternity. They say that it can damage the structural integrity of the ring, which could result in missing or loose stones.
Their second option which is really kind of nice is to trade-up your ring. This is how it works. Let''s say you buy a ring at $2000.00. In three or four years you decide you would like a larger carat weight ring. You call and get the _current_ price for the same ring you have ( almost certainly more than what you paid for it) , and that is the amount of credit you get towards a new ring! The only requirement is that it has to be an upgrade in total carat weight. I have never heard of any jewelry designer offering this type of deal. Diamonds and precious metal prices go up in value not down! You basically get your ring''s value + inflation."
How amazing of a company is that to offer something like that! That factors into my decision heavily.
So all in all what do you think?
Thanks in advance so much!
