Hi all, I'm considering an eternity stacker after parting with my solitaire :(, and am wondering if those who own BGD or ACA melee can show close up pictures comparing them to non-ideal cut melee. -Gypsy, I know from a past post that you have made this comparison before. Do you happen to have a zoomed in photo?

I know some people say when looking at small melee, you can't tell too much difference between very good cut and ideal. I want to believe this, but have also been disappointed before with lesser quality melee as small as 2 points. For others wondering about this question, here are photos showing the importance of cut in 1.5 pointers (0.015 ct). Sorry for the lint!

The left is a Tiffany band, the right is a chain store band. I don't know what grade the chain store ones are, but I sure can tell a huge difference. These are very close up, but in person, at a foot and a half away, I can still see the arrows clearly on the Tiffany. Unfortunately, I can't capture this difference in a photo when it's that far away, but it's there. During my long journey to finding the perfect channel band, I went from chain store to independent B&M to Facets to Tiffany, and the cut quality (and metal work) got progressively better. It also got more expensive but it was a difference I could appreciate. Where do ACA or BGD melee sit in this spectrum? How about other PS vendors like IDJ?

Buying online, I'm very grateful for the tips PS has given me, but once I've been taught to see those arrows, I can't go back. Poor DH

You captured the difference perfectly.
I can definitely see poorly cut stones in the chain store band. Big table, big table reflection, irregular contrast pattern:knockout:. This is very typical of chain store bands and even some "high end" brands such as De Beer.
Tiffany is better.

I own BGD huggies with signature melee. Where do ACA and BGD melee sit?? above Tiffany
What you see in their websites is true and real. I just got no good photo of mine, as it is rather difficult to shoot a good photo

The wife (ha, I can call her that now :P) decided on a wedding ring from WF - I can't remember the name now and have to dash out in a second, but it has 1-pointers in it and they definitely sparkle a lot more than any of the terrible melee I see in the local shops, which all looks like someone's broken a window and put the shattered bits into a ring

Could you please link to Gypsy's post? I am also curious about the difference.
