My fiance' purchased the center stone (not sourced through Maytal). Maytal listened to what we liked and our vision, took our sapphire and then created this beautiful piece around it. These specs are approximate: cushion, brilliant cut - 8mm x 8mm x 6mm.

Wow that certainly is a beautiful huge sapphire! I love the setting style although I confess I am curious if your fiance specifically requested the setting to be so tall?

Gorgeous sapphire and setting but like HotPozzum, I'm concerned the setting is so high that the stone is going to get hit around a lot. There is at least several mm of air space from the culet of the sapphire to the bottom of the basket.

Love the stone and setting except for the height, as I prefer low profiles myself.

We specifically wanted this type of basket; it was our favorite part of the design, which gave it the height and we love it.

It wears well, but I do have to admit, I'm cautious with it..

Well that's the important thing, and I do think the basket/gallery of that ring is beautiful. Often times, that is such an overlooked part of a ring, but it adds so much to the aesthetic IMO. Enjoy!

It's gorgeous! Does it tend to roll on your finger? Mine did until I had sizing beads put in it.

Wow, I think it's absolutely GORGEOUS! Congratulations! I tend to go for height in rings too, though I don't really know why as they can certainly be a pain. I live in a warmer climate, so gloves are very rarely needed, but knocking them against something does happen now and then. I haven't damaged any of my rings yet, though I'm sure that will change now since I posted about it.
