I prefer mayo, and I get disappointed when I am at a relatives house and they offer me a sandwich and then I find out all they keep is Miracle Whip.

I prefer miracle whip, it''s just so so tasty on sandwich!

mayo all the way. it''s probably because that''s what i grew up on.

I was raised on Miracle Whip for sandwiches salads and (shudder) Jello
Then started using Kraft Mayonnaise as a young adult as MW seemed too sweet
Am now using Kewpie Japanese mayonnaise which has an interesting flavor I think

Does anyone know if this is a north/south thing? Everyone that I knew grewing up in NY preferred mayo, until I met my college roommate, who was form Tennessee. She said that everyone in the south eats Miracle Whip. I have no idea if there''s any truth to this ...

Mayo! Miracle Whip is gross IMO.

I grew up on miracle whip and could probably still eat it. But I now prefer mayo. On sandwiches, I only do mustard though.

definately Miracle Whip... a sandwich just isn''t a sandwich!

Miracle Whip! Mayo is so greasy and slimy and tasteless.

I don''t think it''s regional

I grew up on MW in the Midwest

Now live in the South where we even
have our own brand of mayo

"Duke''s Mayonnaise is a popular product in the southeastern United States and an integral part of regional favorites such as tomato sandwiches, cole slaw, and potato salad. It was created by Mrs. Eugenia Duke of Greenville, South Carolina, in 1917. Since its creation Duke''s has never changed the original recipe. The product is unique among similar condiments in that it is completely natural and contains no sugar. As such, many southern cooks and chefs use only Duke''s in their kitchens as it offers a more traditional, less sweet taste than other mayos."

Mayo, which I prefer to make myself.

What is miracle whip, exaclty? I''m guessing it''s a bit like salad cream in the UK? We have this type of discussion on mayo / salad cream

JELLO?! Ewwww!

I hate mayo of any kind, including Miracle Whip. The only time I use it is in things that "mix" so I can''t taste it, like potato salad.

i''m in the south and grew up on mayo. no miracle whip for me!

I've lived in TX and IL. I don't know anyone who prefers mayo.

I don't think it's a regional thing, probably more like margarine vs butter based on what your parents had.

eta~ Salad Cream is very similar to Miracle Whip which is the name brand of a Salad Dressing. I think the cream may be thicker and definitely yellower.

MC~ Miracle Whip does have eggs, I forgot to put it in the ingredients.

I can''t eat eggs, so instead of either mayo or miracle whip (not sure if that has eggs), I use some sort of vegan product that my husband bought for me. Tastes just as good.

I love Miracle Whip on sandwiches. I don''t mind mayo in potato salads, etc., though.

I was raised on Miracle Whip, so that''s what I use most of the time. But, if I go to someone''s house and they only have Mayo, it''s not a big deal to me.

Mayo - fresh and homemade. 1000x better than storebought, IMHO!

Never understood the miracle in the Whip.
Homeade mayo is yummy! [but don''t like mayo based salads]

I like both. But if I''m making tuna or egg salad, I would only use mayo. I would put either on a turkey sandwich though.

Ditto -- it really depends on what I''m eating. Deli meat sandwiches and macaroni salad get Miracle Whip, everything else gets mayo. I was raised in New York and my dad preferred Miracle Whip so it was what we mostly used, but it''s too flavored for certain things. I don''t use any of it very much in my own house, though, and DH doesn''t really like either.

It''s always nice to be a gracious guest.

Good for you.

Mayo. Miracle whip makes me gag. Rather have a dry sandwich than have Miracle Whip on it.

Mayo on sandwiches. My mom makes this fruit salad with Miracle Whip, and I love that. I also use Miracle Whip with fried fish instead of tartar sauce. Yeah weird.

I adore Mayo. Miracle Whip is HUGE here in Frankfurt. I am lucky and was able to find an 8 oz container of Hellman''s, sadly it costs about $5 but it is SO worth it! I can taste, even smell the difference.

Miracle whip... in place of mayo?

That's just strange...

I'd be sad if the host didn't have mayo

I use it on everything. So not good for me!

ETA: Oop! I was thinking of cool whip

Mayo - too blah for me
MW has that tang to it - use the Light version though ;-)

I grew up on Miracle Whip, but now prefer Mayo!
