I grew up on Miracle Whip, but now prefer Mayo!

Same here...but there are certain foods that call for Miracle Whip too...macaroni salad is tasty made with MW. But I guess I like the fact that mayo is made with real food ingredients and no sugar...(forgive me if MW is too, I don''t have the ingredients to refer to)...

But I also use real butter, because it''s ''real'' and not whipped ''plastic'', like margarine is. And I use real whipped cream instead of Cool Whip. I must be old fashioned.

Agreed.

I don''t know why she says it, but this is something my mom has been telling me my entire life:
"Jews don''t eat Miracle Whip."

It''s not a dietary thing, according to her, it''s just something we apparently don''t do. Ah, the bizarre things our mothers tell us.

Well, I''m not a huge fan of mayo in general, but I''d choose the real stuff (RF) over Miracle Whip. It has that odd tang to it, and I''m always a little unsure if it''s gone bad.

Mayo-Hellman''s specifically. Miracle Whip should be eradicated from the planet with trans fats and high fructose corn syrup. IT''S GROSS!!!!

My mother told me Jews dont eat Mayo!

CONSPIRACY!

I have read through and it seems like people who like miracle whip can tolerate mayo, but us mayo lovers loathe miracle whip. Odd.

I can't eat eggs, so instead of either mayo or miracle whip (not sure if that has eggs), I use some sort of vegan product that my husband bought for me. Tastes just as good.

MC -- is it Naysoya (or Nasoya, something like that)? I find it near the tofu in the grocery store. I usually look for a jar of that because it has less fat than real mayo. I usually use that when making tuna sandwiches. My husband won't touch the stuff though. He prefers regular Helman's.

Definately Miracle Whip, but husband is a mayo guy. We have to have both plus crunchy and creamy peanut butter.

I like mayo and mustard on sandwiches

sometimes i mix it up when making deviled eggs, depends on my mood i guess
more than anything though, i love honey, ill put it on an-y-thing

Mrs. Mitchell and Aloros - can you share your mayo recipes? How long does it keep?

Any Dijon w/ fresh horseradish

mayo all the way

I gew up on mayo, but now prefer Miracle Whip on most sandwiches, unless it is a BLT then I just want plan old mayo.

The only miracle is that anyone actually likes Miracle Whip

Households that used Miracle Whip were the same people that ate doughy white bread, and smothered everything in ketchup

My mother is a ketchup lover. She eats it on everything! Its grosses me right out! I don''t mind it in small doses but not on every food going!

I love Mayo but have never tasted Miracle Whip. We mustn''t get that here.

YUK

I don''t like either

elle--I''m calling shenanigans!!!!
My mom says no Miracle Whip, your mom says no mayo, will the nonsense never end?!

My guess is that people who were raised to eat mayo are very likely to find Miracle Whip offensive to the senses. The first time I ever had Miracle Whip was on a sandwich at a friend''s house, and I remember being very disgusted. It was kind of like picking up your glass expecting to taste milk and getting a big gulp of Coca Cola. I expected mayo but that was not what I got.

PP--We never had white bread or Miracle Whip in our home, and being Chicagoans we definitely don''t smother anything in ketchup except French fries. It''s quite a sin to put ketchup on a hotdog around here, that will get you laughed out of The Wiener''s Circle for sure.

mmmm. . .wonderbread squished up into balls and dipped in ketchup. What a treat! Guess what''s going to be for dinner in my house tonight?

I can''t tolerate mayo. It literally is slimy and greasy in my mouth.

I didn''t eat ketchup at all until I was preggo with JT. But, it''s only for hotdogs and french fries. Never heard of making bread balls...

A big thing around here is to dip Lays potato chips in ketchup. The other thing is Ranch dressing on EVERYTHING! It even comes with pizza. Ranch disgusts me.

You haven''t heard of bread balls? Then you haven''t truely lived. hahaha My mom refused to buy Wonderbread when I was a kid and I felt totally left out! Now I''m so glad she purchased whole grain!

I grew up with MW, but as an adult, I converted to Mayo.

mayo

I just checked to see what my DH uses. . .tabasco spicy mayo. I''m the one who buys it however didn''t even know what brand it was or anything. lol

I love horseradish on almost anything too. Roast beef with horseradish... yum.

I was out of town last week and witnessed a man putting ketchup on.... a salad. I wouldn''t eat ketchup for years, but lately have started mixing ketchup and yellow mustard for fries. On hamburgers (the good restaurant kind) I mix A-1 and yellow mustard together and put it on on the bun.

Mayo for sure. Except in deviled eggs - then it''s 2 parts mayo to one part miracle whip!

miracle whip is nasty - I''d use just mustard before I''d put that stuff on any sandwich - if it already had it on I would scrape it off or not eat it - the stuff makes me want to gag.

I was raised on Miracle Whip for sandwiches salads and (shudder) Jello

Then started using Kraft Mayonnaise as a young adult as MW seemed too sweet

Am now using Kewpie Japanese mayonnaise which has an interesting flavor I think
they sell kewpie here and I''m scared to try it - I brought two bottles of best foods (hellmans) with me to china and they are sacred lol

Mayo and LOTS of it! I like it to ooze out of the sides on hamburgers and sandwiches. I like to lick the mayo spoon before putting it in the sink!

I think I''m going to eat some mayo right now....
