What are your thoughts on matching vs. non-matching wedding band to e-ring? I feel like it's only in the past few years that I've really seen the non-matching trend take off. I'm trying to decide on wedding bands right now and am not sure if I should go with classic coordinating or coordinating but outside the box. I'm getting the Julia by JbEG.

I'm a non matchy person. Here are two variations of rings that I'm flipping around - the BGD 3 stone/RG spacer/IDJ 1/2 eternity and then I have now started to wear the new IDJ set OEC with the RG spacer and 1/2 eternity. I'm a woman who needs variety, apparently!! ;))

I think it depends on what the e-ring looks like. For the Julia, I think you could go with a plain band or a diamond band and either would look great. Or get both and alternate them or stack them!

Well... I didn't know what on earth wedding band I wanted. My fiance just bought the matching one because the salesguy recommended it and my fiance wanted to feel like everything was covered on the ring front. Aside from the fact that they're both three-sided pave, I just don't like the look of them together. So I bought a plain rounded band. It's okay but it's not the band I'm in love with. I guess the problem is that I want to be as head over heels for my wedding band as I am for my engagement ring and my fiance, and so far I'm not.

The matching band (which would be worn with a spacer, though I have no idea what! Maybe that knife-edge from Ravens Refuge or whatever that place is called):

The plain band:

One I saw in a store and liked the style of (but I'd like to find one of higher quality, this one felt flimsy and cheap - also please excuse my shamefully dirty ring):

*sheepishly raises hand* (But only in jewelry and clothing! In everything else I am happy with the same all the time!)

I prefer your last option, distracts. I like it with that milgrain "marquis"/rb shape --- that is visually very interesting but not competing.

(And true - a variety in jewels, but I do prefer a LOT of things to remain the same and consistent!! )

It definitely depends on the e-ring. But in the case of the Julia, if you are having the band of diamonds with the milgrain edge, I can't think of anything prettier than a straight band with diamonds and milgrain edge. That happens to be what I wear and I love it! (The Legacy band is right around 2mm)

Example: http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/Item.aspx?fromGrid=1&sku=GRP00003&mcat=&cid=&search_params=s+1-p+1-c+-r+-x+-n+6-ri+-ni+0-t+legacy+band&search=1 (obviously you can find nice quality ones for less)

The other option would be two thinner bands, one like I mentioned and one with shapes such as these below.

Straight band at the bottom:

Shaped band in the middle:

Distracts, I really like the matching band with yours. I already mentioned that I have a ring made very much like it, and the problem is the thickness of the shank. The only other thing I can think of that I would love would be one of Victor Canera's gorgeous engraved bands made the same size as your shank.

Here is the one that hospatogi had made:

thats the one with the bezel, right?

Id say mismatch!
I have a bezel and I plan on having 2, one bezel band sandwiched between my e ring and a plain band.

I think a millgrained bezel one would look really nice with that design.

or this type, with millgrain

I think it depends on the setting. I think for a micropave setting you either need to match exactly or get two plain bands and flank it. That's usually how I feel. If its a french cut I often feel kind of the same, though there's wiggle room. Engraved and plain can do a lot more.

Yup I pretty much agree with this. My favorite being the 3rd link

I agree, I like the matching band Distracts! I also really like the last one with the different shapes.

And I'm obsessed with this engraved band and even if I didn't get it as a wedding band... I see one in my future. :naughty:

I love the idea of doing a matching band and then another non-matching band. The Beverly K ones are beautiful. Who knows, I may end up with 4 wedding bands! Haha.

There is a bezel option but I'm actually getting 8 prongs. I LOVE the first link and that's probably my top choice so far!!

this is jsut a mini thread jack, but distracts had you tried on one with alternating diamonds and sapphires?? id love to see what that looks like, good or bad.

haha ok back to the thread. I plan on getting two because i want one i can never take off, and then another one to wear sometimes, sometimes not, mix up with other diamond bands, etc. so i think your idea of a few different ones is a great idea :D

im for sure not going to tell you to buy less jewelry :wink2:
