I dont think mine look any smaller than baskets..
7.gif
I love my martinis.. I really think its preference. If I want bigger, I''ll buy jackets from WF
31.gif
SDL, I agree! My martinis are very comfortable, I don''t think they enlarge my holes at all, and I think they stick out just enough. Of course, mine are princess cut so maybe that makes a difference?
33.gif

Hmmmm . . . jackets you say . . . I wonder if WF makes jackets for princess cut studs?

I've seen those bezel jackets and I too wondered if my studs would fit in them. I'd love a pair but the place that sells them couldn't tell me if they would
7.gif
I should think that 7/16 inch would be too large for most studs. That's a little over 11mm. Even if this is the "outer" diameter (ie. including the bezels themselves), assuming the bezels are approx 1mm wide/ thick at each "end", it's still over 9mm inside.

Hellooooooo Lovah!
OK, now those are gorgeous! Six prongs, W prongs, and tapered prongs at that. Oh boy....... more trouble
2.gif

Bliss, why not ask them to send you a photo of one of their ladies wearing these? Reassure them, that if they allow you to post that photo on PS, they''ll probably sell a LOT of that mounting.

Bliss- I am getting depressed. My hunt is not going as planned. I posted in RT but nobody responded. I''ll re-post it here because maybe someone will post their stud with halo pics. Specifically square ones. Here is my post from yesterday. I''ll just copy and paste.

I have been on a mission to select and purchase my gift to myself for my 50th...OMG, I''m getting ripe!!

My goal is a nice pair of studs and a pendant. I have the previous stone on hold for the pendant. It is a round brilliant and received your blessings. I have two rounds. 72 and .71 triple ex''s S12 J''s, same color as the pendant, but the bad news is...round studs look awful on my ears.

I tried on martini, 4-prong, leverbacks..and it was awful. The only thing that POPPED on my earlobes was a small round HOF stone with a square halo. So this had me wondering if I should consider cushion cuts from GOG or if I should lower the size of the studs to approx. .50 and set them in square halos. The bottom line is that my ears POP when the earrings are disc-like and flat against my earlobe and not set so high in a basket. I tried on some jackets over the .70 and I felt that someone might want to tackle me and cut my ears off. They were too big, but at least they looked good. I just don''t know if they would be practical for daily wear.

So, I have been searching all night (which by the way is good for my diet, because I become so engrossed in the research that I don''t even eat!!)

So, I guess what I''d like to see are some posts or links to jackets that are square or alternatively, settings that will create that illusion without the center stone sitting so high above the halo.

Any suggestions, pictures????

Hey Miraclesrule ...
I really love the H.O.F. Dream halo studs that are tiny tiny Dream cut stones with a square halo of round ones around it. MY FAVE earrings right now - but WAY out of my price range. Holy SMOKES those things are expensive. Will try to find a picture. Seems like they'd be able to be recreated with a tiny round stone in the center perhaps. Off to look.

ETA: Oh, I've been stud shopping too and really liked the way a SAM'S CLUB halo earring looked on my ear. it was a tiny round stone with a halo of rounds and rounds around the edges. Wouldn't ever BUY from there probably but was surprised how good that KIND of earring looked on the ear. Never would have guessed!

Here''s the picture. Its the "Fulfillment" HOF earring. LOVE LOVE LOVE THE LOOK!!!!

fufillmentstud.jpg

And here''s a picture of what looks to be a version with round middle stones in a square halo.

I'm sorry nobody responded before.

Do you have pics of RB martini's you could post? I must say I'm *very* surprised to hear that martini's do not sit flat against your earlobes? Did you push the earrings a bit closer to yr lobes? My LM martini's are wonderful in that they sit very flat against my lobes and at the bottom of the "martini head", there's a round"disc" that prevents the earring from going in too far.

deco- those are close to what I tried on that looked nice on my ears. The only ones that looked good were the HOF Repertoire Dream Studs. I didn''t look good in the hard square, but the cushioned look. The Rep Dream studs were over priced for the .67 tcw. The airline looks much larger in pictures that in person. The center stone is round and small and is set above the halo. My daughter wants to try them on today. We might exchange the Tiffany Legacy earrings for them and save have the cost. But honesting, I could save even more for that tcw by getting them through a PS vendor.

Here''s the ones I tried on and they looked dreamy on me. I have to return to work today...Blech, but will try to keep a lookout on this thread. I need some HELP!!

I think the reason there weren''t lots of responses is that square halos for round earrings are very rare. Can''t think of anyone around here who has them or anyone who makes them besides HOF. I''d try to go custom if you really want the look & just use the HOF pictures for inspiration.

Or, heck, its your 50th -- skip the pendant and just get these DREAM EARRINGS. I''ll live vicariously through you!.

Ditto, thritto!! Those look GORGEOUS!!

Irishgrrrl... Yeah? Hum, I must have Crater Ears! LOL. I put them on my mom and they looked huge on her. But on my ears, I feel like they get lost. Maybe I just don't have that perspective because they're on my ears!

Phoenix! Thanks for the info and advice. I think I'll just have to get them custom made...waiting for YOU to get your fabulous studs fitted first to see!!!!!
31.gif
36.gif
Are they at BGD right now? So excited for you!

Gemgirl... Yeah, that is a great idea! They don't have pics of the w-prong in my size so I can't really tell. But I do love them and they are so beautiful... I keep waffling! So glad you loved those... I know!!! Trouble!
30.gif

MIRACLESRULE! ROFL! Told you to try on the leverbacks! Sorry, I didn't see your thread in RT.
Whoa, you have the perfect awesome set! I wonder if Yekutiel can custom make the square halo? He does great custom work, from what I have seen. I'm thinking about making dangles with him for my new studs!

I totally get what you mean about halo studs looking like BLING BLAM WOW on your ears. I have those larger custom halos on my first pair and they are dynamite. I recently fell in love with them again. The other day I was at a charity gala and got sooooo many compliments from strangers - including men, surprisingly. Even walking through a Neiman Marcus last week, people were stopping me to ask about my earrings. LOL. That NEVER happens with my martinis! I don't think they are noticeable in my ears due to my hair and hungry earlobes.
41.gif

I think going custom for halo settings and NOT doing jackets is key if that is the look you want. The custom halo diamonds are tight tight tight around my center stone so there's no visible airline and it just looks like one huge sparkly crazy disco party in there. The melee makes a huge difference in crazy sparkle...And the center stones don't stick out from the side... that's what I was trying to avoid.

Believe me, I really did NOT want buy a second pair of studs to get a second bare stud look. Seemed so wasteful to do that and not just buy jackets. But it does make a huge huge difference in the way they sit on the ear and the overall impression and sparkle. So I would highly suggest doing a custom halo so that you get this effect if that is what is in your heart. Otherwise, I don't know if you will be happy with the jackets because the look isn't the same. I asked Leon and he told me the same thing, which is why I went for custom halos. He was right - it would go off center at times, the halo wouldn't be as tight...just wouldn't be the same. The center stone would stick out like a little bolt and there would be an obvious airline... Have to go custom halo studs if you want THAT look exactly. Otherwise, get the jackets and rock both looks!

OK... SO!!!! I will now hunt down some square halo earrings for rounds for you! But if that is what you love in your heart...Miracles... sistalady... I kind of feel like you will not be satisfied until it is EXACTLY what you want! LOL. I'm the same way. It'll kind of itch in my brain until it's perfectly satisfied.
31.gif
That's my best heart to heart advice! Don't want you to get the jackets and then feel really disappointed.

Deco, those are GORGEOUS!

Phoenix... love your martinis... If I had that size, I wouldn't have started this thread!
18.gif

ETA: Miracles...

IS THIS IT?
30.gif

Gorgeous! So this one is different from the halo being super tight around the stud.
It's gorgeous!!!!! (sigh)

MAYBE this can be achieved through jackets, though... what do you think? Then you could have the best of both worlds...

Deco, I love you!

Pu=leeze Ladies, Those HOF earrings look good on me, but they are too tiny. The tcw for the set is only .67. We are considering them for my daughter''s push present and we would return the Legacy. She prefers the sparkle factor over the Tiffany Legacy cut. ::::shrugs:::: Cool for me, because I prefer to keep the money difference.
36.gif

I would want at least...at least....a .50 in each ear and then custom make the halos. GAH!!! I just posted in RT....sometimes it sucks to be uncommon. I wish I could just look good in round studs. It''s so simple that way and uncomplicated. ARGH!! Besides I think ID Jewelry picked me out some Bomb Bada Bling stones for my ears, but I fear they will be too big, unless we can find a miracle setting. MAZAL!!

And don''t even think I am not getting the pendant. I am getting the pendant and the earrings. I just need to get what looks best on me.

Bliss, I agree, jackets are nice, but custom jackets that let the stud nest into them would be ideal. Otherwise, I agree, a custom halo is probably my only option.
15.gif

Miracles...

GAH! I can only imagine the Mazal earrings Yekutiel found for you. They are probably even better than the last pair! I would loooooove to see them...poach them... Just kidding! LOL.
31.gif
No, I swear! I'm done with studs for now... next project are drops! And diamond hoops!

Oooooh, Miraclesrule...a pendant and studs? WOWEE!!!! Lucky lady!

So much to think about! Are you getting any sleep? LOL. I know how that is.

I would definitely definitely custom halo the studs if the look you want is based on those one piece all inclusive halo earrings. Otherwise, you won't get the look you want... Hate to say it because I was in that boat, too! Even custom making the jackets creates the airline and the small bolt issue. I tried some on and I did not like the look on my ears. It just looked wonky on me and the stud looked smaller because it wasn't made together in one piece. I know! Believe me, I tried! I went to every designer and got the same response. Even Leon says for that look, custom jackets won't accomplish the look of one continuous halo stud. You'll get the bolt and airline. Side profile drove me nuts... GAH!!!! What's a girl to do?

You have a very big decision to make! LOL. A really awesome dilemma, if you ask me!

What to do, what to do? How does one PM another on this site?

YAY for all the bling pics. So what did you decide Bliss?

I agree with SDL

In addition, I have two piercing per ear and the martinis are just a better fit for two pair of studs. I can always get jackets for the bottom pair of studs, if I want more size

The HOF Fulfillment earrings are ~.52 ctw* per ear and take up a lot of real estate on the lobes. I have these earring in the drop style. They are very pricey
23.gif
I lost my mind and bought them anyway, but it might give you some ideas. These are my earrings. They really pop and sparkle like crazy...

*they do come in different carat weights

Marian,

The Fufillment earrings are AMAZING!! I tried them the studs on today and BAM, I fell in
30.gif
. You're right, they are pricey, but they have excellent coverage and they looked dreamy on my ears. It's incredible that they provide the coverage for the tcw. The rounds looked spectacular on my lobes but it's hard to pay $4800 for them. Trust me, I sure wanted to pay for them today. I think it's the "cakepan" setting. That is what they looked like to me...little mini round cake tins filled with sparkly goodness. They would need to order them with different backs before I would ever buy them though. Your HOF drops are divine. I didn't try them on, but I'd like too!!

I did try on..yet again...some martini studs. I tried the martini's from Kwiat. I hate that the .75 per ear looks like crap and the .50 looks awesome on my ears. I guess I should just be excited that any size of martini actually looks good. Even the shop owner's daughter admitted that the smaller ones looked better on my ears.
14.gif

I suppose I could always get jackets, but I still prefer the Fufillment Rounds to a .50 stud with jacket. My daughter got stressed out just thinking about her options. We nixed the idea of trading her Legacy for the HOF dream. The shop did have an estate pair that were available for $3600, but they are yellow gold. They offered to dip them in Rhodium, which I had to explain to my daughter. I was just excited that I could even spell it. I think that impressed the salesgirl.
41.gif

I think my daughter would like to return the Legacy's and let me find her some .50 for each one of her ears and upgrade her camera with the extra cash. She has to make up her mind by tomorrow. As for me...::::sigh:::: I wait for a miracle.

I'll just dream about your HOF for tonight.

Skippy!!!! I think I'm going to go with 4-prong baskets for the present. I have to admit, the martinis are totally growing on me. That's why I haven't done anything in a while!!! How are you loving your martinis? I dug up a pic of my old pair of 4-prong studs before I made them halos and boy, those were great! The w-prongs are calling my name, too. Do you have new pics for us to drool over? Maybe your martini setting is better than mine! Mine dive STRAIGHT into my earring hole like a scuba pro and disappear, I feel.

Marian... I LOVE YOUR EARRINGS! You like the martinis better? You all must have awesome earlobes. Mine just sink in and seem to disappear. Maybe I have a mental disorder. No... I definitely have a mental disorder!
31.gif
I love everything HOF. So gorgeous, including your ring!

Miraclesrule... WOWOWOW. I can tell how much you love those earrings!!! So pretty. You could get that look with halo studs!
30.gif
So pretty.

I am laughing right now over the fact that you tried on martini studs again! Why do we try SO hard to love them? I do the same thing! Every time I think about switching, I read the martini threads and everyone raves so much about them I feel like something is wrong with me! The thing I dread is regretting the switch, so I'm kind of in a state where I'm trying to make myself love them. Don't get me wrong, I do adore them - it's just that they're ALMOST perfect. All my other jewelry hits the spot and these are alllllmooooost there.

I get the fact that .50 per ear looked awesome on you! When I was trying on bezel settings, I tried on a .3 per ear bezel set earring and it looked SO AWESOME on. I kind of froze because they rocked my world! Hmmmm, I should maybe drop by today and scoop those up. They were awesome. I agree with pearls as well. 6-7mm looks so darn perfect on my ears. They frame my face perfectly. That was my rationale when I went for diamond studs - I wanted about 6.5mm per ear.

OK...OK, so I know you're getting the amazing MAZAL earrings and pendant - big big items for your jewelry wardrobe! Is your beautiful girl getting some, too? She's trading in her earrings? She has Legacy earrings that she doesn't like? Pics?

I thought you might like the Fulfillment studs
2.gif
Why would you need different backs? IIRC, they are just the regular push back for posts, aren't they? What's nice about the HOF 18k wg is that it is alloyed with palladium, instead in nickle. My ears are very sensitive to nickle. I was back and forth between the drops and the studs, but since already have martini set studs, I decided to go with the drops. Have fun choosing your new earrings

Bliss,
My piercings are tiny, so the martinis don''t get pushed into them. I just don''t care for four pronged baskets on me. Thanks for the kind comments on my ring. Did you see my thread or just my avatar? If you need a linky, just let me know

I was one of your biggest fans during your reset process. LOL. Love love love your old setting but this one is the best of all.

Love love love!

The weirdest thing about my piercings is - the holes themselves are very small. But I think the cartilage below them is sunken in or something because the martini settings nestle in them TOO much for my taste. Or maybe they don't and I just like the pop out look of low set baskets... That or my eyesight is getting worse!

I can't wait to see your new x prongs; I bet they will be gorgeous

Do what works best for your ears and makes those diamonds pop!!

Hmmmm Updates....

Well, my daughter made the difficult decision to return the Tiffany Legacy earrings tonight. I think all this diamond education has had an effect on her. While I love the thought of leaving a little "Legacy" for her and my new granddaughter, it is true that the Legacy doesn''t have the sparkle factor especially when they are tiny ones on your ears. I think that cut is better is a larger stone and setting in a ring on one''s finger. Therefore, I will most likely make studs out of the .71 and .72 for her ears, since that size looks better on her ears than mine. I will have to find some .50''s for my ears.

The more I look, the more I am debating whether or not I am a white or yellow gold gal. I know that everyone goes for the white gold, but it may be that I also look better in yellow gold. Maybe it''s the olive skin tones. I don''t know. I''m not normal. It''s a blessing (I almost typed Bliss-ing ) and a curse.

::::sigh:::::

Oh, and I''m really pissed off about not having the credit applied to my account from the B&M store where I initially made my impulse buy. Worse than that is that nobody returns my call and they have nothing but excuses when I try to get an answer out of them about when the "bookkeeper" is going to be in to process the credit. If I don''t get an answer by tomorrow, I am going to create a thread with their name in it just so that is shows up when someone Goggles their store name. Not only will it draw more people into the PS world, but hopefully, it will warn other people about their lack of customer service. I really think the character of the shop and the employees are tested when it isn''t a perfect transaction. Then you see what they are really made of.
