Hey funny lady, got any more celebrity stud pics for us to drool over?
I bought a pair of fakey''s yesterday, with 6-prong flat baskets. The baskets are flat because the studs sit very low in them. I''ve done this for 2 reasons:
1) to see how 2.7ct each studs look on my earsand see whether I can get used to wearing earrings of this size (since I''m comtemplating upgrading my studs). And no they don''t look ''too'' big at all, just right, he he
; and![]()
2) to see how 6-prong baskets look vs martini''s. You know what? The 2.7caraters do look much bigger than my BGD 2.3ct studs, not only because they ARE bigger in caratage but the baskets make the diamonds/ earrings look more prominent. The studs stick out more and thus the diamonds themselves appear bigger and more noticeable, IYKWIM. I *personally* don''t love this look for *me*, particularly because one of my ears is ''wonky'' and the stud looks sideways on it as supposed to straight. But I''d imagine that some other ladies may prefer their studs in baskets as they do look more prominent.
Just thought you might like to know.

Thanks SO much for trying on the other settings. I'm still mulling over my current martinis, waffling back and forth. I might change to a 4-prong martini... maybe that's what I miss. I'm not sure! I might just go back to my basket settings, too. Eep! W-prong? So many choices! 8-prong martinis?
Ohhhh, are you upgrading? I was drooling over your LM pear jackets the other day... You have such a fabulous collection. So when you get the mondo studs - what kind of setting will you get? They will be HUGE in a gorgeous POW eay!!! Your set now is huge in a POW way, too.![]()
I get the sideways thing that might be an issue. I never noticed it when I had my studs in the basket setting, though. So maybe I'm just fighting my love for the basket settings. Ah well, I plan on going to try on more settings this week and maybe plan some new dangles for the new studs, too! Are yours for sale?
OMG, those are heaven!![]()

Thanks for all those fab pics. Celebrities *do* know how to wear monstrous studs, don't they? I LOVE the pics of the First Lady, esp. the one with Oprah. Oprah has soooooo many gorgeous bling, I never tire of looking at them, LOL.
I may very well get a pair of larger studs from JA (trading in my pears). I've actually found another pair, about 2.6ct each, a tiny bit smaller than the 2.7ct each, but better colour and clarity. Cut-wise, I think I'll need to ask Dave Atlas to have a look to see if either pair comes close to my BGD studs.
Yes, if I go for the JA studs, the BGD studs will go back to Lesley and Brian. In my wildest dreams, I'd LOVE to keep both- perhaps the BGD's as studs and the JA's as dangles, but I *know* I wouldn't be able to!![]()

I don't know what Lesley and Brian will do with them if they go back. If they put them up for sale, you should snap those babies up!! You know you want to!!![]()

Too funny. Personal preference varies so much! I''m laughing because my sister has 1ctw studs that she never wears - because they stick out too much!Maybe it''s something about both of us spending so much time on the phone at work?![]()
Gecko! LOL. I know! I know! Wish they could be Transformer robot settings that would retract when we got on the phone! Do you think that your sister has crown settings? I''ve seen crown settings stick out a LOT. Basket settings are lower to my eye and don''t stick out as much - juuuuuust a little more than martinis, which burrow in a little too much for my taste! Or my earlobes must just think they''re delish and gobble them up!
Here''s a pic of a crown setting I dug up.
I think these are the old school 80s settings that jewelers used to use - they stick out far and droop.
ROFL!!! I took her 4 separate kinds of backs last time I was there, and she still doesn''t wear them. Meh. Wish I could just steal them!Date: 10/19/2009 4:08:43 PM

PHOENIX!!!! They have bezel jackets? That would be SO cool! I wonder what that looks like? For me, I feel like there isn''t enough definition in my studs because the martini sinks into my ear so much. Maybe I have a crater there? It''s like it''s being swallowed up and I want it to be a little more defined. WOW, are you getting bezeled jackets for your baby studs? LOL. I am laughing because your 2.03 studs are super big but compared to your other honkin'' drool causing mama ones they are babies! LOL.
I love the nekkid martini vs plain metal bezel jackets. That idea is so new, my head is spinning!
MIRACLESRULE - whatcha gonna do with your amazing studs and pendant projects????Oh, you are making me think of Yekutiel''s diamond peace sign earrings on hoops. I keep thinking about those lately... When I go there, I''ll take a pic and post it for you!
SanDiegoLady!!! Another martini fan!I must confess, I do love mine. I think I just have the itch for more prongs? The perfect setting eludes me!![]()
Gecko, you need a stud intervention for your sister!!!! She''s FAMILY! You can''t let her wear crown settings! At least buy her some little stud bras for drooping!!!!!!!! STAT!![]()
Btw, I really dig this necklace on Katherine Heigl !!Date: 10/17/2009 7:18:03 PM
