Martini settings for studs/La Pousette vs screw-backs

I know this has been discussed before but I couldn't find anything recent. I am trying to decide between WF 6 vs 8 prong settings. I like both but am wondering if 8 prongs might "overwhelm" the diamond. I usually stick to baskets for studs but I think martinis will sit closer to the ears. Also, I am trying to decide between La Pousette backs or screw-backs. I have a couple of pair of screw-backs and they have never bothered. I didn't know about La Pousette backs until reading about them here. My consultant said that La Pousette backs would sit a bit further back from the ear than screw backs.

I'll never get screw backs again. They rip earlobes up and really irritate my earring holes.

I have WF 8-prong martinis holding my little bitty (.24 each) studs in place. The prongs are very fine - barely noticeable, really - and definitely don't overwhelm the diamonds.

Re the La Pousette backs - one of the vendors recently addressed that here. He said that the "fit" on LP's can be tweaked, but it involves adjusting the fit from the point at which the post is attached to to the earring. In other words, it could involves removing, adjusting, and re-attaching the post.

I don't like screw-backs because the posts are thicker and the threads hurt when I insert or remove the earrings. If they don't bother you, go screw-backs.

Personally, I like good butterfly backs. Also, if I end up with a droop, it's easy to replace existing butterfly backs with jumbo backs.

I had the same dilemma less than a month ago. The la pousette's that I went with for my wife's studs certainly sit nicer on her ears and with less pain from not having screw back threads, but she finds that getting the la pousette backs onto the posts is harder than screw backs. This was the first set of earrings she's had that has not had a screw back on it so maybe it's just a case of her wearing them more to get used to how they work.

8 prongs for me is too much (my wife thinks that too). 4 or 6 prongs for us personally.

Since I have never had a problem with screw-backs, I might stay with what I know works for me. I've heard a lot of great things about La Pousette settings but I've never actually seen one. Seems like people have some issues with both types of settings. If I were dealing with a local jeweler I'd have the opportunity to try both and make a decision.
I want a really safe setting whether it be screw backs or La Pousette. I've lost more than a few earrings over the years!

I have La Poussette backs for my studs and love them.
I wear them with the backs pushed closer to my ear like you would with a butterfly setting but the La Poussette 'groove' means that they can't/don't slip back past this and so adds security.
So much more comfortable than screw backs and I have worn my studs every day for the last 5 ish years.

I use regular large back posts and I put a tiny plastic donut thats fits right on the back. my earrings sit beautifully in my ear and I bought 1000 plastic little disc donuts for $4.00 on amazon. Best solution ever.

I really like La Pousette backs. I find screw backs annoying - I can barely put earrings in my ears at all, much less screw little doohickeys on the back where I can't see!
