Mara, there is a mini dealer within 5 minutes of my house! Not sure if they have AWD, but would think if they sell them here, it should be an option. If he would train it in to work overall you would be fine, it does not snow that that much here, but once in while you do need the all wheel. A good reason to get another car!!!! You will appreciate having it, and it the roads are bad it helps to know you are more likely to be able to navigate. But again, it really does not snow tons and tons here, there might be one bad storm or two in the whole of the winter, and some days it really feels fine even in January or February! ( and remember I am a So. Cal girl so snow was not something I was used to!)

I was just about to post this on the WWT, but thought it might be better to post it here on your thread so as not to spotlight you completely publicly...

I am due for a visit to my aunt near the twin cities (she''s in the Hudson/River Falls area, not far from the twin cities at all), and I have a lot of flexibiity in hours with my job this month as it is obviously a very slow time for us. I would love to meet up with you if possible for lunch or dinner or whatever while you''re in MN. No problem whatsoever if it doesn''t work for you...just wanted to throw it out there in case you were available!

Monnie, I posted in WWT but you haven''t responded so not sure if you saw it but I said I''d love to try to meet up with you in MN, I am reviewing my schedule and trying to see what might work out. I also asked you a Q in there about TPF...check it out when you have a chance...!!

Oh and DF I never responded to your post but we are still considering Philly suburbs (Greg has actually employed a search firm to help him with a move, it might be here locally or out of state, we''ll see) ... and hopefully the Mini could come with us if that was the case. Not sure how it would handle the snow and all that (or how *I*''d handle it is a better question) but we are in love with it!

I grew up in the Chippewa Valley area....not to far from Hudson....nice place to live especially when you earn MN wages and get to pay WI taxes!

The twin Cities area is a decent place to live depending on the burb you get. 3M is one of the best places to work in the state. Do not work for United Healthcare or for US Bank....they get the worst ratings every year. Just because they dont treat their employees really well

....to bad I am not in that area...I would have loved to meet the famous Mara and Monarch!!

HA HA HA! No, unfortunately my Burberry lovin'' self doesn''t hang out on TPF too often anymore..although it would like to. That li''l Burberry lover goes running every once in a while right towards Marc Jacobs, damn her. Hee hee...for now, in the frigid cold of winter here in the frozen north, she''s more interested in just hanging out with likeminded chicks such as yourself. Ok, dropping the 3rd person voice...I would love to meet you wherever and whenever it''s convenient if we can make it happen. My SIL has a baby shower the weekend of the 19th so that''s my only nix weekend...let me know when you are available in MN! Muah!

BRRRR. don''t remind me about the frigid cold!! i''m so not looking fwd to it hehee. i need to get my wool coat tailored/sized as it''s way too big for me now, a good problem i guess but just one more thing i have to have done before i go. re: TPF...you should check it out

i will be in MN the 21-24 and in a small suburb town outside Minneapolis, about an easy 15 min drive from the airport. my schedule is jam packed for the most part as we have events in the evenings, but i do have the night that we fly in free, the 21st i fly in at 5pm, and could meet up with you ... thing is i typically share a car with my coworker when we travel, so i won''t have my own wheels. but...if you think that you could make it on the 21st, we could figure it out for sure. lemme know!!

Crap...I will be driving back to Chicago on the 21st...I could hypothetically keep driving all the way up to MN without stopping off at home but that would make me a very exhausted driving fool. It''s a 5 hour drive just from my hometown to Chicago, and then another 7 or so hours to WI/MN border (twin cities), so it doesn''t appear that I will make it up there to meet with you.

Oh well, maybe next time you''re in the midwest for work OR one of these days we''ll venture out to CA!

Anywho, I hope you have a fab time in MN...will you get to do any sightseeing? Mall of America is closeby, but honestly I''ve been twice in my life and once was enough. Don''t neglect getting your coat tailored, you will need it!!!! It''s freakin'' cold up there!!! LOL!
