Well I am not quite at this point yet, but I really want to get a wedding band with diamonds and figured it is never too early to get a game plan together.

I was thinking a pretty wide palladium band--but I am afraid that might look a little feminine if it were too white so if you have better metals in the lower price bracket let me know. Then I would really like to have like 1 diamond or maybe 4 in a cross or X pattern (talking like .1-.15ct each or something, or maybe 1 .25-.3 as I could get those from 350-450. I have no idea where to get .1-.15 ct from and have it be ideal cut) And I am afraid only one diamond would be too feminine. And as a future elementary school teacher who enjoys the occasional "Whole New World" on the ride to work, I might want to be careful.

(Also, for those who have read my post, I wouldn't be concerned about appearance from the side in this one

) Any ideas let me know! but don't bother hunting diamonds now as I won't be buying this one for a while (unless it is to show me about .1ct diamonds) Just trying to get a general game plan together.

But I decided on the ride home tonight when the sun was shining on my fingers and nothing was happening: I WANT SOME BLING!

Have you ever seen Rod''s ring? I''ve no idea how to post a thread but I think if you do a search for his posts you might find it, it''s quite beautiful with one diamond set into a wider band.

Rod''s ring is beautiful! Here''s the link.

To post a thread or any other link.

click reply

it will open up the chat dialogue. Directly above the area where you type text is a list of buttons you can click. It starts out with foramatting, then it says "B" for bold, "I" for italics...the last one of these is Earth with a chain under it. That is the link for Hyperlinks.

You click that and it will ask you to type in text. This first part is the name that will appear, like this:

I typed this name and so the link I will attach will be linked under this name that I typed

Then after you click ok for the name it will bring up the next option, which is to put in the web address. To do this the easiest way is just to open up the webpage on a new screen, copy that address, then paste it in the hyperlink popup. Then click ok and it will appear just as the above link did. (It took me a few minutes to figure out how to do it myself, they really need a good tutorial on here.)

And by the way, my name there is BMGYaris, join the chat! though I haven't chatted there in a while.

Well those are two incredible rings. I would have to see them in person to be sure about it, but I know they look awesome on here. It is def a look that could work, I suppose it might be possible to do something similar with a .25ct center and .1-.15ct sides? then put it in a 4mm band--though not platinum for me. Also, I would have to have it bezel set so I could go low in clarity and color without being bothered by it. But def something to think about, if only there was some way to get some cheap .1cts with a nice cut...or any cut...lol. (my gf will be really mad though when she finds out I want something like this instead of a 250 dollar ring

Here's Mara's husband's custom titanium tension set .38 diamond ring. I don't think the single diamond looks feminine at all in this setting!

Here's strmrdr's .15 diamond ring.

Facets has some nice men''s diamond wedding bands but they may be out of your price range.

Dang, I just looked at the first post you linked to snlee and it was INCREDIBLE. Just a matter of seeing how low I can go in price ;) now off to check the other threads you linked to!

I knew I had read that strmdr had one. But honestly it is a bit thin overall for me, and as a standalone I would probably spend more money on the band rather than the diamond at that size, but it's probably MUCH more along the lines of what my budget SHOULD be
11.gif
. But, I LOVED Mara's husbands. AMAZING. Though I am afraid ACA will probably be out of whatever my future budget is going to be, hopefully I can work it in as I would really like to try out a New Line for myself
18.gif
. Going to have to go checkout some titanium sites and learn about more metals soon! all I know is, when I am driving down the road I want that blinding that fire that I got from my first ring (and hopefully this ring will get me, I have spent so little time with it outdoors I am nervous, but I am too scared of losing it.)

I''m usually not a lover of men''s bands with diamonds but...somewhere on here is a photo of a man''s band with baguettes set across the width of the band all around the top. And the same thing with one baguette on top. Very elegant and understated. Hopefully someone can find that link.

I always liked this one: "Tremolo" by Henrich and Denzel. If my man wants bling, this is what I would get him (I soo hope he wants bling!).

But I have no idea where to get it or how much...it's in my inspiration file...I also like squarish stones for a man's band.

I would say square too as it has a much more masculine appearance in my mind, except they face up so much smaller and I would have to go so low in ct to begin with that on my finger they would probably be TINY. though I don't know my ring size as I have never worn a ring, my pinky is a bit larger than 5.75
1.gif
.

I can still remember when I told my co-worker that princess cuts faced up larger than rounds but sacrificed on brilliance/fire/scint (when I was first learning). then I found out I had made a mistake and didn't think to tell her. My ring came in and she saw it and she looked so confused and said "that looks really big" and started looking at her own. lol, whoops! I am afraid during my research and discussions at work I may have slowly stolen some of the love she has for her ring, though it is a fabulous ring and I certainly didn't do it on purpose, nor know anything about her ring when I was talking with people. But anyway, that pretty much turned me off to square shapes for now, at least until/if I one day have a much more substantial budget.

unless of course the price were right, so I will def. keep looking into that and other square options for now. But...like I said...smaller

I was wondering so I just ran a search. a .34ct princess is 3.9mm and a .34ct round is 4.5
(ideal for both, blue nile signature ideal for the princess)

That certainly is very nice though, and actually, having the diamond be square might allow for a thinner band I think, and sill retain a nice masculine appearance. thus It might actually be cheaper to get a thinner band and save money on metal and stick with the square. Def a possibility. Thank goodness I have plenty of time to work it out

What do you guys think about dropping pretty low in color. Not so low as to be fancy, but enough to get a clear dark hue. Think it might give it a nice manly appearance while still retaining a lot of beauty?

Pearlman''s has a Partner collection. Lots of men''s diamond rings here!

oh geez, they may have some good selections, but I was somewhat surprised by the wallpaper.
Won't exactly be boasting about where I bought it
27.gif
I think they are a bit expensive for me though. Who knows, maybe I will end up with a wood band bezel set so I can afford my diamond:) got alot of research ahead on this one, but I will hold off on most of it until I finish my proposal! need to buy an SI cleaner tomorrow too so it gets here in time. but I am off for bed tonight, keep posting ideas, and thoughts on lower color stones with darker metals, whatever comes to mind! great stuff so far!

i doubt band thickness will make any difference in ring pricing.

Have you considered Tungsten Carbide (looks like a mirror when polished and is "indestructable"?) or Titanium? They are more grey are darker than palladium and cheaper. Boonerings.com has a good rep for Titanium tension rings...he can set your diamond for you, and he's super quick! You can aslo put the saved money towards the diamond.I haven't used him but you can do a search here about him. He is willing to customize if you want!

I attached a tungsten carbide ring for 960USD found here http://www.titanium-jewelry.com/tr-2151wc.html but I've never used the company.

I believe it has some. Consider these two:

3mm

4mm

Naturally the wider band requires more precious metals. But, probably not much of a difference in the width difference I was talking about, true. At any rate, this is more of a brainstorm session for me. To see what possibilities might be realistic. Some beaitulf rings so far though.

As for going down in colour, I think that's a great idea! I think flush/gypsy/burnish set diamonds are very masculine, and the best thing is that this setting hides the body of a diamond where you see all the colour! You are also thinking of a smaller sizes (also hides colour better), so I *think* you could "drop" in colour to a J or even further depending on your tastes and the cut quality of the diamond! I also like "warmer" diamonds, and if you like 'em, for sure get one no matter how it's set! If they are cut properly, they are still beautiful diamonds (IMHO).

Have you even considered gem stones? Check out the colored stones forum if you are interested.

I've attached some other ring pics and ideas. They are pretty contemporary, I dunno if you like that.

Also, I forgot to mention that Titanium and Tungsten Carbide cannot be resized...Have you ever considered palladium-white gold but unplated? Its has a slight golden-grey hue to it, you might like it.

One more thought, since I'm on a roll, is that I don't think a single diamond looks unmasculine, especially if it is placed off centre. I dunno why that is, but it is (IMHO).

Ok, must sleep now!! lol.

THis is my FI''s ring...by Damiani (and Brad pitt)

Trying again...You can have something like this made with less diamonds as well....for a more modest look

Out of all of these, my favorite is Mara's husband's band...the single 0.38 ACA in the titanium tension setting. There's just something really masculine about a tension setting. And as far as I've heard, titanium is actually relatively inexpensive. This is the type of ring I'd love my fiance to get when we get married, but he doesn't want bling. In fact, he doesn't even want to wear a band, so I'll fight one battle at a time.

I love Rod''s ring and that one with the Tremolo is very cool!

Whoa! That was supposed to read 560USD!! yikes!

Yea, i noticed that price difference but didn''t say anything
2.gif
. Something like that would def be an option, but honestly it looks alot like that tiffany promise ring going on in another thread
38.gif
. Though my understanding is that Tungsten Carbide can not be resized? but there should be SOME options out there available for me, just maybe not quite as nice as Mara''s husbands! Very hot

My gf''s famil is going to think I am crazy though, I found out her mom has a .25 ct diamond ring. (I guess my .61 will probably look sizable then, even if some of her friends have bigger ones. Yea!)

I couldn''t resisit...wood you like one of these?

It''s apparently designed in 18 carat Yellow Gold with ancient 2000 year old English Roman Oak, set with a discrete round brilliant cut diamond...

Maybe take a look at http://www.sunjewelry.com/mr1244.html

I absolutely love this ring!

holy Wooden ring! that is really great, I would wear anything that had 2000 year old Roman Oak somehow in it? (just because its roman oak of course, how amazing is that).

What do you guys think about moving down to L in color? I have never actually seen a diamond rated as L (though there were a few H's down at some mall stores I was thinking might have been
2.gif
.

Bassically, it looks like if I choose one of the single stone diamonds of VS2 clarity or higher (I figure it needs to be pretty high for a titanium tension setting) I have found
I can get .20-.26 cts G-H color with my boys down and JA.

HOWEVER. there are also some incredible WF diamond selections in the same price range at .40 cts, at K-L color:

381 dollars with PS discount, K color, ES, .41

L color option example

First, are these prices correct? Its like 40%? off...what the heck. Def going to wire transfer for those discounted prices. Second, how do you think L and K would look in a man's titanium ring? I think having it yellow might actually make it a little more manly?

Hum...wonder where I can find K and L colors to compare...

In my mind I think L or lower might actually be better just because it would look more intentional, rather than like it was just tainted? but I really have no idea, I certainly never looked in this color range for my ff
