Hello!
Could someone help me a bit, please? I have a friend that is a diamond expert (gemstones in general actually too) and I want to give him a present. Could someone recommend me a really hot (I mean new and fresh :)), good book about MMD and simultants? If there is any...
Many thanks in advance!

Best regards,
Ivan

The best book I am aware of is called Laboratory Grown Diamonds: Information Guide to HPHT-grown and CVD-grown Diamonds. It is written by gemologists at EGL Vancouver (where all of AOTC''s diamonds are graded) and it covers many of the technical aspects of lab diamonds including growth and identification. This edition was recently updated (I think last spring), and is an excellent read. I don''t have my copy handy, but I don''t believe it covers simulants.

You can see the details here on EGL Canada''s Website.

The GIA has a great book that is available on their website (www.GIA.edu). The book contains all of the articles that have ever been in "Gems and Gemology" over the years.

Cheers,
Clark

Apologies for a delayed response. The following two recent books on the subject of diamond synthesis could be of interest; one deals with a historical perspective of the development of diamond synthesis technologies, while the other deals with a gemological perspective.

THE DIAMOND MAKERS
by Robert M Hazen

Contents include:

1. Mysteries
2. Attempts
3. The legacy of Percy Bridgman
