Some time ago I purchased a LOGR setting for a 6x8 mm oval stone. After months of indecision I finally decided to set this gorgeous 1.63 ct Mali garnet from Art Cut Gems into the mounting. I picked the ring up from the jewelers last week, and spent some time playing with the ring. Please excuse the sun photos

. I think I must need a lot of sparkle in my life, because this thing has me absolutely delighted.

Vendor''s photo. Rick writes in answer to my questions about the color: "Mali 6 is slightly greenish-yellow under a lightbulb, turning more strongly green in daylight. Mali 6 is a standard table cut, extremely bright."

Combo hand and flower shot. o.k., it''s a dandelion, but not a big choice of flowers here yet.

I happened to be wearing a green sweater that day. I love the reflections of green sweater, my skin tones, and the yellow dandelion in this photo.

And, it''s darker outdoor green color.

You can see my green sweater reflected in the metal below the stone, and the blue sky reflected along the top. I gotta say that I''m very pleased with my new pretty.

Thanks for looking!

You are so sweet, mochi! Thank you. Gotta use the flowers I''ve got. Good thing you can''t see my whole lawn!

Thanks, TL. It has good color and sparkle. Now that it is spring, these lighter greens are more in line with the colors I''m wearing.

Very pretty.

Holy smokes that is gorgeous, congrats!!!

It turned out lovely! Love the dandelion shot... hee hee! I am in the same boat, still waiting for flowers to appear. The weather here in OHIO gets quite wonky!

That''s a dandelion??? I thought it was another amazing flower that was cultivated precisely for the purpose of taking colored gem photos!! HA!! Well, I have plenty of dandilions (that''s probably the only "flower" I have growing in my backyard right now). I need to go take some pictures.

Very cool setting. And what an awesome mali- it looks like it has just a ton of life. Beautiful!!

It''s so and sparkly! Congrats on your pretty new ring.
