This magical 14k stick pin really spoke to me! The mermaid is over a half inch in length. I plan to convert it to a ring to wear on my right index finger. What kind of band would work best? Should I have my jeweler just melt down the stick part of the pin, or perhaps a contrasting metal would be more fun?
Love this project! Interesting suggestion about putting it on a base. Do you think if you don’t the tail might snag on stuff? Can you take a pic of it resting on your finger so we can get a sense of scale.
Thanks, but the base idea is not my preference. I like the asymmetry of the freestanding mermaid. Plus, I have very small fingers (3.5 ring, 6 middle) so a more imposing style of ring doesn't really work on my hand. I've long adored the whimsical creations by Trademark Antiques; over the years they've had all sorts of creatures, but never a mermaid (to my knowledge). You can see one of their pieces here, a dragon conversion ring: https://www.pricescope.com/communit...garnet-ruby-stick-pin-conversion-ring.223394/
I think if I'm careful with the ring, the conversion itself is an easy project.
me too! Turquoise is one of my absolute favorite things to wear, and it's perfect with the gold and halo. Awesome combo and the mermaid is so charming!
@pokerface Have you done a post on the Please Show us your Ring Family on One Hand page? I would love to see more of your collection. You clearly have some really fantastic pieces!
Seeing @ceg family shot of her bands was so thrilling! I’m still thinking about them! :kiss2: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/ceg-show-tell-time-show-us-your-bands.247950/ I love the loaded up hand shots I see on IG. There’s just so much awesomeness all in one pic! Please show us...
