5389BE02-A2A6-4CC6-AC6D-DAFA49515587.jpeg This magical 14k stick pin really spoke to me! The mermaid is over a half inch in length. I plan to convert it to a ring to wear on my right index finger. What kind of band would work best? Should I have my jeweler just melt down the stick part of the pin, or perhaps a contrasting metal would be more fun?

Really love your Magical Mermaid!

As a possible option, maybe something like this, putting Mermaid on oval white metal base...

and put it into a ring setting based on this (Mermaid oval in place of green jadeite, and changing triangle designs on metal surround to ocean/shell motif carvings (or plain metal):

I look forward to seeing how this project progresses -- so fun and beautiful!!

Love this project! Interesting suggestion about putting it on a base. Do you think if you don’t the tail might snag on stuff? Can you take a pic of it resting on your finger so we can get a sense of scale.

Thanks, but the base idea is not my preference. I like the asymmetry of the freestanding mermaid. Plus, I have very small fingers (3.5 ring, 6 middle) so a more imposing style of ring doesn't really work on my hand. I've long adored the whimsical creations by Trademark Antiques; over the years they've had all sorts of creatures, but never a mermaid (to my knowledge). You can see one of their pieces here, a dragon conversion ring: https://www.pricescope.com/communit...garnet-ruby-stick-pin-conversion-ring.223394/

I think if I'm careful with the ring, the conversion itself is an easy project.

Wow she is amazing! I am admittedly jealous of how perky her assets are, AND that she gets to be a mermaid. Some girls have all the luck!

Oh wow! That is creative and beautiful! Did your jeweler melt down the pin part at all or solder to an existing ring?

Yes, I believe he used the melted pin to make the ring. That's what we discussed, anyway!

Oh I love this! So pretty and creative! I like the contrast of the shiny and matte, makes the mermaid stand out.

Oooooh, I love the turquoise ring too!

me too! Turquoise is one of my absolute favorite things to wear, and it's perfect with the gold and halo. Awesome combo and the mermaid is so charming!
