Thanks Jmmianne. I have a feeling seeing that asscher of GemConcepts has ruined me for all others but I like you feel like taking our time (we’ve been at it for a few years too) is the way to go.

FYI I have been back a few time to see the pix of Mildred you’ve posted and I’m just so enamoured. It’s so hard in pix to really get a sense of the cut but Mildred really shows so well. I was able to find her specs but what size is your hand?

Thanks

Call me crazy but for me the challenge of finding the right asscher is part of what makes them special.
That said, it was a relief to finally make a decision. Lol
I am hoping you find your special "asscher that rules them all" soon!

I totally get the dilemma & that we just don't have the selection up here in Toronto that our U.S counterparts have. Nor do we have the ease of having these stones shipped to our front door without the hassle of customs. The L that Adam posted on IG looks really pretty. I'm not a step cut expert so I can't comment on symmetry or windmill size or anything like that. The stone from Yoram looks gorgeous & I'm a total fan of his work. Unfortunately, his stones come at a premium. I'm also old enough to remember the "blue-white" craze & I'm not a fan. While I love & search for fluoro in my lower colour stones, I shy away from them with high colours. Now if Yoram says there is no ill effects of the fluoro, I believe him. Maybe start with the lower priced stone & go from there. The exchange rate sucks. :-(

This is what I personally would do, & do it all to often to be honest. LOL LOL I would have Adam ship the L to Buffalo Fed Ex & drive down to check it out. If you don't like it, just have the Adam prepare a return shipping label & return the stone while you are still there. The materials are free & in the Fed. Ex depot so no issue there. And paying the vendor to ship the stone back while you are there is a heck of a lot easier & cheaper than trying to do it from Canada. The vendor will ship it fully insured. So while driving down is a pain, it's not too bad. Go on a nice sunny day & hit the Cheesecake factory for lunch. LOL You wont have to wait the 3 hrs to get in like the one at Yorkdale. If you need directions to the Fed. Ex depot, I can help you with that. LOL

Thanks CC, yes as the crow flies I'm not far from Buffalo so that in theory is a great plan BUT my BF is amendment that he won't pay for something online. It has to be in person. When we're ready we'll probably head to NYC to see some things in person (that is if we don't pull the trigger on GemConcepts stone that I'm totally in love with).

Thanks for the info, so in theory, the stone I'm looking at would probably look about the same size on my larger (7.5) finger. Good to know! FYI I showed the BF your stone last night and he agreed that it really is spectacular. He told me we're not settling on something that isn't perfect (to me) so we may (continue!) take our time. And yes as CC mentioned the exchange rate is crap right now so we may end up waiting that out too but I don't see it getting better any time soon!

Just to ask the question... if you're willing to fly, would you be willing/able to visit Israel? I understand that Yoram/@diagem is based there, although I don't know if he receives guests at his workshop!

Alternatively, would he be able to indicate if he is due to receive any new rough in the near future, which might include something that would give you the combination of the 4Cs that you are looking for?

@HoneyBadger2 is this the asscher you’re considering from Yoram? https://instagram.com/p/BgT6-Q5lL4y/
It’s AMAZING if it is :love::love:
I just watched it again and realised it’s an antique EC so probably not what you’re looking for. But I’ll leave the link up because it’s just so beautiful

It’s not actually but I do love it as well. I beautiful squat antique emerald. Nice size too!

@HoneyBadger2 I know that you mentioned you don't want to purchase online, but I saw this on markdown come up on instagram and thought of you. Erica is based in Washington state (can't remember where exactly). I have made several purchases from her. She has a great eye and is very easy to work with.

Thank you! And yes I saw that too (keep looking at her other large step cut). I think I want to stay with at least 2.5ct (the 2 ct just looks too small on my hand!). In writing that looks so bad - wjat I mean is I’d go for a different cut if I was going to get a 2ct stone.

I’m probably not going to fly there but we’ve figured out a way for me to see the stone before purchasing. We’re just trying to decide if we want to expand the budget before I we do. I know if I see it it will be hard to so no on budget alone!!

Not sure about the custom work thing. I think it’s risky. I’m sure I’d love his work but not sure this is how he works.

Doesn't sound bad at all, you are on PS, you are not likely to hear that a diamond is too big. DSS is a real thing, so I would by the largest stone in your budget/specs that you can and make sure that there is a good upgrade policy.

Awesome :))

I know what you mean about not wanting to give up on something that you are sure you really want, but worrying if something better will come along or whether you should spend the money or whether you're just overtaken with magpie-like tendencies  - at least if you can see it performing 'live' it will mean you can make the decision in confidence :)

Ref: your comments about size, is it definitely big enough?

I’m reading the latest development here with interest!
Wishing the best for you, whatever you decide : )

Just thinking about it, you could also have a view of an Octavia if both are available! ;)
