Low colored asscher with flor

Put it this way, sometimes I see slight tint on my G color asscher. I am tint sensitive and while I do see the beauty in more buttery stones, I keep wanting them to be white. It's just how my brain works. I would take an SI2 or even an I1 in certain conditions (not an asscher), so it is all about what you want.

Thanks whitewave, agreed - best to know what is important to me and I do think I prefer color over size

I would also prefer a whiter colour over size. Maybe go look at a few and see how you like them in real life. The faceting is another consideration - my original engagement ring was an ascher. It was F colour but I was never happy with it because it was dark in the centre. Good luck I hope you find one you love.

Thank you. Yes finding 3+ carat asschers or emeralds to see in person is hard. I know, first world problems :-o but given there is no standard on cuts for these it’s a must. I know some of the high res videos that are available now do help and am curious to hear from anyone that has done this and what your experience was.

Maybe we’ll have to plan another trip to NYC and hit some of the diamond vendors to find something. =)2

ID Jewelers and Diamonds by Lauren are the two we would recommend in the city along with Good old Gold on Long Island

OP I love your setting idea! Btw I am not sure what your budget is exactly and I don’t know how much this diamonds costs, but I saw it on IG recently and I thought that it was pretty: https://instagram.com/p/BeTM4c4lOye/

I also like the asscher from OWD, but there seems to be something in the symmetry that bugs me. Maybe it’s just me and I am not an asscher expert, so I will let the other folks advice further!

At least one of the windmill facets looks bent. Would need to view it in person. Why doesn’t he show the profile and underside?

Don't forget to drop Yoram a line through his gemconcepts website :)

Thanks for the recommendation OoohShiney! Do you know if they sell loose stones? That Peruzzi cut is something else!
That’s what they sell; Yoram is a cutter, not a jeweler. I have 7 of his gorgeous, vintage cut Asschers! They are, by far, the most beautiful diamonds I’ve ever seen!!!

I see he’s overseas, did you have the stones shipped or were you able to see/purchase locally?

He sells a few loose stones on his site, but he primarily sells to jewelers. I am quite sure he doesn't have anything close to what you are looking for, but here is the page with his items for sale. I believe most are well under 2 cts.

Actually he does have an antique 4 ct J VS1 emerald cut (not cut by his company), but I imagine the price will be higher than the ones you've been looking at.

He shipped them to me, overseas. My DH wired him the money, Yoram paid the international shipping, I paid for the diamonds to pass through customs ($30.00), and the process (from money wire to arrival) was 5 Days.

I believe that Yoram is happy to cut something to order so it's definitely worth asking :)

I have seen him say that he is not interested in doing cut to order for larger stones, but I guess he can make an exception. However, it is a risky proposition for both cutter and buyer because the buyer is committing to something they have not seen, the cutter cannot guarantee the outcome as far as color and clarity. And if the buyer doesn't like the outcome, they are either stuck or the cutter is stuck with rough they bought with no buyer. I've seen this not work out well a couple of times, and I would never recommend it on larger stones. It can take weeks or months to find suitable rough. Too much risk. He does cut melee stones to order which jewelers order to make rings/jewelry.

I curse you Matthews and OoohShiney for ruining me to all other stones! LOL teasing but seriously, his work is amazing and now it's hard to look at anything else. I've been in touch about a couple of stones he has but not sure anything he has right now will work. I do have to say the BF is really not comfortable with the 'paying for something he hasn't seen first', especially something so expensive and easily forged. Maybe by the time I convince him Yoram will have something just my size .

I'm not sure what @diagem's return policies are, but I would assume they are the same as most of the other PS-recommended vendors - so probably 30 days to assess and return if you don't like it (because you're insane lol).

Ask him the question to check and let us know, if that would be alright! :)

Nothing to add in the way of help, but I just had to chime in and say that I love your profile photo. You and your partner look over-the-moon happy and totally in love. Good luck on your diamond journey.

Thanks N-C; very sweet. Yes we’re pretty passionate together (for better or for worse as they say!!). We both love this pic too.

So first off I would like to comment on how great Yoram is with his communications and ensuring this process is an enjoyable one (thanks! :))

So the short answer is no, he's not in a position to accept returns but he has made a generous offer at a solution for me and I really appreciate it. I'm not sure this is a case by case thing so I won't post.

So the stone I'm looking at is this one. It too has strong (more medium according to Yoram) flor as well. I'm curious to hear other's thoughts on how this stone would be for someone looking for a very clean and white looking stone.https://www.instagram.com/p/BgB5mSGnTkJ/

Omg. I’m mesmerized watching that video. It’s breathtaking. I know nothing of asschers but I love this.

To be a D with strong blue, I'd have to evaluate it in person and if there is no return policy I don't think I'd buy sight unseen. I love the cut, absolutely. It will face up smaller being almost 72% deep. I just want to put it out there as well, that I had a G asscher with medium blue which was so nice for that stone but very hard to resell due to the fluor. Just know what you're getting into if you go medium and above fluor on a stone.

Oh goodness. I’d buy that in a heartbeat. I adore vintage asschers. Yes there is a weird bias against fluoro in the industry but this is too pretty to pass it up due to that imo if it’s not overblue and making it hazy (which it doesn’t look to be).
Please say you’re buying this!

That diamond is drop dead gorgeous. I’d snap it up without hesitation if I was in the market! And Yoram is trustworthy, so no need to hesitate for that reason.

FWIW, I have a D asscher with strong blue fluorescence and it’s AMAZING. So crisp and bright white. It takes my breath away, even when it’s slightly dirty - haha.

I personally adore fluorescence. It’s like the stone’s little secret, and I giggle every time I find a way to show it (ie: where I get my nails done there’s a blue light on their sink faucet spout and I wash my hands extra long because of it )

Thanks ILikeShiny! Very helpful. I fear the blue effect of the flor in the D will make it less white but it sounds like that’s not the case for you! Forgive me if I sound ignorant - I really am a visual person and I haven’t seen this combo in person.

P.s I love that you take the extra time to appreciate it when you’re watching your hands at the salon!
